Still lost at least 1/3 of your spending power to inflation, you have to put it back into an investment that will 5x-10x or the fed and banks will rugpull you. I'm in the same boat, have more moey that could have ever imagined I would, there's nothing worth buying, not having to wageslave is the only real benefit, and if I leave it in the bank to pay bills for the rest of my life it keeps loosing value.

>> No.49624899

The way I'm looking at inflation is a simple one (albeit not the most accurate). I'm a cyclist and there was a time when someone could buy a "carbon fiber" bike with decent parts in 2016.

Giant "Defy Advanced 2" 2016 Model - $2100
Giant "Defy Advanced 2" 2022 Model - $2800

These are pretty budget oriented bikes, but the 2022 models come with slightly better parts, so the difference would have been worth roughly $200 more to get the better parts.

As a "back of a napkin" estimate, the newer bike would have $200 worth of upgrades given it has "tubeless rims" instead of requiring the use of inner tubes.

The bike used to cost $2100, and if inflation (and also "economies of scale") were not an object, the newer model bike would cost about $2300. Instead it costs $2800 in US dollars.

$2800 / $2300= 1.2173

Since 2016, the "equivalent bike" effectively costs 1.2x as much money, so using this very loose "model" I'm asserting that the bike got 21% more expensive over the course of six years. Back in the days of the "gold standard" inflation was less than 1% yearly, but now it's floating around 2 - 3% on a good year, and this isn't accounting for sales tax, maintenance costs (which have risen dramatically) or the bikes which rose in price by more than 21% for later models.

Despite inflation being a factor in pricing, things don't typically get 3% more expensive when inflation is 3% because "economies of scale" should bring down prices enough to compensate; this means it is possible that inflation (using a basket with only one item in it) is likely much higher than 21% over the course of SIX YEARS.

I lost nearly $10K on mutual funds, $3K in crypto mining, and $1K on trading cards (mostly Magic). Mutual funds averaged 35% losses, crypto went down 40% over the past week, and the disposal costs of collectibles are trending high.

At this point, the "pro play" is to invest in your health and work out like crazy at the gym.

Holding large sums of fiat is crazy in this environment and sold assets will never find their way back into the hands of the masses. Decades worth of work, saving and investment. Over 60% minimum roughly. And, we aren’t even close to done. No one is capitulating. No one is committing suicide, bankers are not flinging themselves from roofs. Until then, PAIN.

Luckily I didn't lose anything but I should have cashed out at the top, had $220k and now sitting at $12k. But that's fine, my initial was around $3k.

Hope it gets back there some day but not in a rush anyway.

They do not know that pain, suffering and loss are things to be welcomed and not avoided. This life is a crucible for our souls and the misery is the forging process. Embrace the pain of your existence and realize that your character and soul are leveling up. These next few years will separate the men from the boys. Hoka-Hey!

You must be a smart ass nigga. I've lost 50% of my invested funds 6 months ago but that doesn't mean I've lost it all. My bags of lox, xrp and eth will be back in the pump even if it is going to take 2 years I don't give a damn. The vibe is do not fucking sell

Cashed out in November and lost about 40% of profits to bad trades since then. Keeping the rest for another easy money scenario instead of forcing it.

Good explanation. Somehow young men have been conditioned to think negative emotions mean something has gone horribly wrong. That it's not an invitation to become a better man. When you overcome these feelings unassisted you build a self-reliant independent framework to face further negativity. When you go crawling and grovel to a prescription jew you reinforce a weak dependence. Female behavior.

This year, basically nothing. Cashed out in late January, started buying hard assets and supplies (food, ammo, PMs, homegym, etc). Most of my cash goes to stuff that will be more unaffordable or unattainable as time goes on, the rest I'm saving and putting into value stocks (utilities, commodities, etc)
