Ya know, people keep mentioning this but I don't know if it's strictly true. Like, treasury debt only gets refinanced as it comes due or needs to be auctioned, so, yeah, you can't just hike to 20% and hold it there.

But what if you did 20% for like two weeks?

Treasury burns through its cash buffer or holds a tiny auction but mortgages, commercial paper, Eurodollar markets, all this stuff gets rapidly tightened as the world freaks the fuck out and melts down. Then the Fed resets to 2% or whatever.

That would take a chunk out of inflation no doubt.
