>but rapehike pause
Well consider not only that the move makes no goddamn sense but also that it requires Powell *convincing the entire FOMC to go along with it*. How the fuck would he do that?

The simplest answer, to me at least, is that JPowell is stuck in some kind of multi-month time loop. Using impossibly-gained knowledge he talks the other members into that wackadoo step in hopes of preventing the apocalypse or something.

Since we're living through that particular loop, that must mean this is the time he breaks free and has successfully averted whatever he was supposed to avert.

I too have had this experience >>49610303 but to a smaller degree. Nearly all decisions I've made when it comes to investments, employment, and women have been a failure.

>investments
Opposite of whatever I choose happens no matter how good my theory is on why a stock will move one way only to reverse the moment I sell. Become too scared to do anything, all my theories get proven left and right. I'd be up like 30% had I gone through with my low risk plan. 5x if I went with the high risk thing I was toying with. Second one would've gotten me my entire loss back and more. Most of which I'd immediately cash out and quickly begin buying assets/formulating ideas of where to stick it (not stocks) before it ends up being the weong scenario of choising casg and stocks because a hyperinflation scenario began. Only to get screwed again where I end up thinking I finally won life changing sums only for it to hyperinflate.

>employment
Made the mistake of going to college and taking a bunch of garbage jobs that really only helped for income but never helped for getting a job that truly required a degree.

>women
Never had a gf, any time I did try I failed. Any time women approached me it was usually ugly ones who didn't feel all that interested but rather desperate for whatever they could get.

Ya know, people keep mentioning this but I don't know if it's strictly true. Like, treasury debt only gets refinanced as it comes due or needs to be auctioned, so, yeah, you can't just hike to 20% and hold it there.

But what if you did 20% for like two weeks?

Treasury burns through its cash buffer or holds a tiny auction but mortgages, commercial paper, Eurodollar markets, all this stuff gets rapidly tightened as the world freaks the fuck out and melts down. Then the Fed resets to 2% or whatever.

That would take a chunk out of inflation no doubt.

>A UK health worker caring for a monkey patient developed a skin rash 18 days later in the first case of hospital transmission of the infection outside of Africa.
Contrary to the classic description of monkey, the rash appeared without the health worker having had a fever, headache, or muscle aches in the preceding days. She also did not have swollen glands at any time, which is considered another classic symptom of the disease. She had 32 pustules on her face, trunk, hands and labia majora of the vulva. The one that made her suffer the most was one that grew under her thumbnail and broke the nail.
The health worker had received the Imvanex smallpox vaccine six days after caring for the monkey patient, who had just returned from Nigeria, but the vaccine did not protect her. She received the antiviral drug brincidofovir, but it was toxic to her liver and the doctors decided to stop the treatment. What is most surprising about her case is that although the rash lasted for two weeks, she still had detectable virus DNA in her blood 30 days after the onset of symptoms and in her upper respiratory tract up to day 41.
“In previous cases and outbreaks of monkey patients have been considered infectious until all skin lesions have crusted over,” write researchers from the UK National Health Service (NHS) in The Lancet Infectious journal. Diseases, where they present the case today. The finding that some patients continue to have detectable virus DNA when skin wounds have healed suggests that they may be contagious after symptoms end.

25 bps isn't 'that close', it's a massive difference in the grand scheme of things. Remember that everything is hyperleveraged, and this eventually depends at some level on the rate. Most importantly, a single point can make or break a hyperleveraged endeavor: if the wrong person gets a margin call due to this, the entire market could collapse like dominos (protip: not likely to be that dramatic, but surely possible).
