Why aren't stocks tokenized yet ? Why aren't companies emitting their stocks as tokens on their blockchain of choice ?
This seems like a winning move for everyone involved except brokers

yes but you get to see everyone else's portfolio too
don't you want a transparent stock market ? or at least to some extent since you could mitigate this by making two hops through monero before buying on a wallet that isn't linked to your identity

Because the blockchain is transparent to audit and removes the data assymetry between institutions and retail and arbitrage afforded by tech which no one but institutions can afford and makes manipulation harder etc. It is coming though, whether certain institutions like it or not.

Dude companies are building their own cheap blockchains, you can’t buy them on Binance dumbtard.

They are. The LUNA Blockchain did this via the mirror token (Mirror.io). You can buy 1 share of AAPL for about $10.

>> No.49549749

Do Mirror, Fabric, and FTX mean nothing to you?
Mirror and Fabric tokenize stocks via synthetics. FTX holds actual stocks then mints tokens on Solana to represent the stock.

Companies make too much money having custody of the stock certificates and rehypothocating the stock for interest. Eventually the stocks will be tokenizied, probably after the SEC clarifies that many of the altcoins and such are illegal securities.

didn't know about those. So all attempts at tokenized stocks today are from crypto projects, no companies sought to circumvent tradfi and IPO directly on chain which makes sense because of "regulatory clarity" i guess ?
also wtf are those premiums on mirror ? why is every mCRYPTO at like -99% premium, what happened here ?

Yeah. That's the problem with synthetics as a way to tokenize stocks. If it's all backed by shit collateral the whole thing breaks. We need tokenized stocks backed by better collateral, like Maker or Abracadabra model but for minting stocks rather than minting a stable coin.

In all likelihood all tokenized stocks will flow through FTX since they'll hit escape velocity with their master plan soon. In a couple years we'll all be trading tokenized stocks on Serum thanks to SBF. Stocks are onboarded via FTX to close out arbitrage created by on-chain demand.

going public with their stock so it can be traded on the stock market
instead of doing that they could make an erc token that represents the stock instead
am i mistaken ?

>> No.49550031

Tokenized stocks would be essentially anonymous, which goes against compliance laws in any country. There have been several scam projects promising tokenized stocks, but there will never be tokenized stocks in reality (ones that you can trade freely like a BSC token) because that would mean anonymity.
