>for the past two and a half years, JPMorgan has quietly been exploring digital identity in the context of blockchain and digital assets. “If we can put this identity layer in front of DeFi that enables KYC-based access, then each of those protocols should just naturally be able to support institutions without necessarily having to make too many changes to what they’re doing,” Lobban said. “Do we have to set up separate permissioned pools and make changes to the existing protocols? Or can these things work out of the box?”

deco/town crier; chainlink holds these patents.

Pretty much if you see anything talking about decentralisation and middleware authored or co-authored by "Ari Juels" or Cornell anything it uses chainlink.

Very bullish to see one of the bigger industry players moving ahead with this. The issue with something like chainlink was always that even if it is cheaper and more secure than the legacy systems if nobody uses it there is no need to risk adopting it as long as the direct competition of any company that could use it doesn't.
The second any of them adopt it the others are forced to do the same to prevent losing customers as they would be significantly more expensive and less secure than these first movers. Now that JPM is going ahead with this it means that the other industry players will be forced to dive in after them to prevent being left behind.

If Ari Juels is so great, right, then how come his decentralised identity solution, CanDID, that he developed with ex-JP Morgan executive, Christine Moy, and other supposed nerds like Fan Zhang and Andrew Miller, right, how come it’s just glorified credentials sharing? Everyone in the identity space already knows that identification does not equal identity, and yet that’s exactly what these supposed mega nerds seem to think. No wonder the price of Chainlink has performed so shockingly when the allegedly smartest people working on it don’t understand the difference between a document issued by a central authority, and an individual’s unique humanity. Thank the All Father for people like Bob Reid, who admittedly might be a goatfucker, but at least understands the fundamentals of one of the most significant issues in crypto today.

Couldn't you do that on Avalanche Subnets, or Polkadot or Cosmos already. I mean what he's describing is basically Ava Labs Mission Statement, the sort of shit John Wu talks about all the time.

>fuckers can't enter due to regulatory compliance,
>create private permissioned subnets that can conform to jurisdictional legislation to let said fuckers enter.

there are rumors that it will end up on Hedera. they already have banks working with them, plus JPMorgan is working with DBS bank which is also on the Hedera council.

It makes perfect sense to choose Hedera especially considering that HBAR foundation already allocated more than $155 million for DeFi development. Maybe they can create another fund towards banking?

Interesting to note that while consensus was a sell the news event for the most part, it did raise link's floor in sats, and even with Sunday's btc dump link is one of the only alts that actually resisted it. I'll note again, in the 2018 bear market, while btc had a final capitulation in December, link had bottomed in sats by the summer already. Time to get comfy watching dogcoins and other various scams get washed out over the next few months, although don't expect any great price action from link or anything.

That video is the perfect example of how Everest ID operates in general.

Everything he says makes perfect sense, but then again it's presented in an extremely dogshit borderline meme/scam way with unironic "ngl" zoomer speak in the presentation itself. At all times it seems as a golden opportunity and a complete scam at once

Honestly I've written off the rest of the year. Pretty sure we're looking at 2023 as a bare minimum to start seeing any serious recovery for LINK. Sergey made the genius move of releasing the roadmap for steaking in June 2022. Just imagine if this happened a year ago. Our lives would be so profoundly different that I need to stop thinking about it otherwise I'll kill myself.

The problem is link's actually attempting to build a legitimate project, not time the market and dump on retail (which is literally what eth did, look it up, they dumped right at the top). If they actually succeed in their goals, nobody is going to give two shits that link had to deal with general crypto market volatility for the first few years. You're always welcome to try to time that volatility yourself anyways, nothing saying you can't. Just don't come crying if you miss it.

It'll probably be another 5-10 years before DeFi has matured enough for it to be trusted to support such assets anyway. At the moment all you read about is Bridges being hacked, Stablecoins imploding etc. DeFi at the moment is like this giant fucking Testnet you're being paid to stress test.
