The best way is if you have a source for free scrap. Alas, even electricians know to save their cut wires for scrapping, so it's hard to find.

Pennies are good, but kind of dead-end. You have to melt them yourself, as destroying pennies for their scrap value is outlawed (in the US) and therefore commercial smelters won't. If you do it yourself, it jacks the expense quite a bit.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YPQDkKA4MLE

Next best: buy scrap or homemade bars from auction sites or yard sales.

Commercial bullion is now very expensive. But these bars are now selling for triple the price I paid for them. Will that trend continue? Dunno, but I have enough for now and haven't bought any for several years.

If this is real, picture related might be the second BEST deal of my life.

Some dude sold 60 high-premium "numismatic" swiss silver coins below spot price, plus a 15g silver medal.

That's 347g of silver for 235 euros.
Spot price is 0.66e per gram so... 347x0.66= 229.02e
As soon as the offer pop'ed up, I triple checked it, hesitated like one minute and send the money. What the actual fuck? And the guy was open to "direct offer", I wanted to offer less but no way someone would not buy it in the meantime.

Now the really absurd part is that those coins are 1Fr and 2Fr swiss coin. Even the super damaged ones have a 50% premium (I know because I spend my day watching swiss coins auction on ebay to buy 5Fr Swiss Chad). And those looks in pretty good shape.

So I'm either getting scammed or that dude is desperate for money. The cheapest 1Fr I ever bought cost me 5.5e that's a 100% premium.
I think I'm getting scammed. No way, this is not real.

California is fucking stupid. Nonmonetized copper, platinum, and palladium are always taxed, as is all jewelry. All gold and silver bullion, plus monetized bullion of any metal and numismatics are taxed if the order total is under $1,500, but over that threshold and the tax is waived. "Processed items" like novelty castings and "art bars" are always taxable, but depending on the shop they might be treated as bullion to avoid that if you pass the $1500 threshold.

I discovered my friend's mom's enormous junk silver stash and it got me thinking. I'm questioning the value of junk silver in any kind of shtf. I don't have any now, been focusing on getting gold and actual silver bullion. I figured I would trade my stockpile of alcohol, food, vitamins, etc. for what I needed. Not even imagining a Fallout scenario, I'm thinking something like Venezuela now or what people went through during the Bosnian war. How many of you here would be willing to take silver dimes and quarters in a trade? I mean really think about it. I realized I would be very very hesitant and that's as someone who knows the value of the silver inside. Ngl though, if everyone really did agree on using junk silver in shtf it would make things easier.

Money is such a crucial part of every civilized economy, the loss of one currency is VERY quickly replaced by another. People don't stand for barter for very long because it is so inefficient. People don't care about silver coinage right now because fiat bucks are still working. The minute fiat bucks STOP working, people will be scrambling to find a replacement. Junk silver is a very likely candidate.

He is establishing his authority over the panel. So even though people can all clearly see the BS in the market and the wild smackdowns that happen to silver every week, he can just ignore it.
Rick Rules is a big enough player that he knows to just leave it alone and pretend its not happening. The "bigger picture" that silver is manipulated out of necessity because of international trade agreements is obvious. He's smart enough to not say that part out loud. The larger you are, the more likely you are to be privvy to insider information and may have made trades that can be used to get you in big trouble if you start going off the rails. So he can like silver, but only comments on it in a detached sort of way.
I think silver being manipulated is a good sign. It is THE asset to own. As the global monetary system breaks apart, everything will be fundamentally revalued and we have no idea wtf is coming very shortly.

Hate to tell you this but a lot of people really do either save retarded shit coins really not worth anything such as Buffalo nickels, B. Anthony dollars or Steel pennies and expect big value because they're old, or they really don't research at all and just offload grandpa's goods as soon as they get them. I've seen both cases happen personally several times. Now in my opinion, the best way to fix this is to get a conversation going with your potential inheritors about coins, and the ones that aren't interest don't get the coins as an inheritance and the ones that are curious and will listen do. It's that simple.

Even all the way back in the 1790s the US never clipped the eagle's wings on its coins before. And looking at the type two, there's more than enough space in the field to either move the eagle just over to the left a little of just make the eagle slightly smaller so the entire bird fits into frame. It's intentionally clipped. At best it's horrible design when we have over two centuries of perfectly intact eagles. At worst it's demoralizing maliciousness.

Some theorycrafting for the next few months:

>fed raises rates too high
>economy and stock market crashes
>fed starts up quantitative easing again and pumping liquidity into the markets, starting hyperinflation

Now right after the market crash, do you think it makes sense to pump money into stocks? They are going to take off like nobody's business since the fed will be printing money like crazy. Once the stocks take off, at a certain point I would sell them and use the money for PMs. The problem is that I expect PMs to take off as well. Do you see any point in buying the dip? Perhaps oil and gas producers and miners could be a good investment?

It's often intentional for a portion of artwork to remain "outside" to make the size of something seem more impressive. I imagine this was the intention, as it does a pretty good job at making the wingspan seem enormous.
Seems like you'd rather they give him chicken-sezed wings or make him 30% tinier and less impressive. I strongly disagree

The official story of the redesign is that a hundred years ago the Morgan dollar got switched out in favor of the Peace dollar, hence the redesign. This also allowed them to put in some anticounterfit gap-toothing around the rim.
In terms of agenda, they got a lady engraver from the Canadian mint who specializes in wildlife to do the Eagle. There was no consideration for heraldry, which pisses off a lot of coin nerds
There was a hullaballoo around the 1920s redesign also. Descriptions were printed in the newspaper and it led to a numismatic shitpost session. There was a broken sword on the original Peace dollar because the artist knew dick all of the heraldic meaning of a broken sword (defeat/cowardice). It got replaced.
I haven't found any modern era mudslinging on the new Eagles except after the design was made public.
It's a fine design for a coin or round, but as an American flagship dollar coin it lacks the stateliness the other, classic American coins have.

Well that explains it all. And you're damn right I'm pissed off as a coin nerd. Currency is the physical manifestation of a nation's power and prosperity. Symbolism and heraldry means everything. The currency should reflect the nation's values. Even if tired by some since it has 200+ years of usage the eagle, shield, arrows and olive branch are fantastic as symbols of the nation.
The fact we've had to work and pay with literal toilet paper instead of actual wealth for the past 50+ years is the perfect physical representation of the nation's internal rot. It's a big pile of shit.

Nah, I'm not into coins at all, sorry. I kind of regret having so many already; my dealer was out of stock of bars for a few weeks and I wanted to buy something so ended up with 60 Britannias, kek.

If I make any more gold purchases it will probably be an additional five bars.

Yeah, probably among the whitest states in the union it's very comfy here. Don't be discouraged though, I made out like a bandit in shitholes like Illinois so just keep an eye on listings for your area posted to www.estatesales.net

You won't see the benefits of owning PMs until shit really starts to break down. We're just getting started. Remember: The fed can never control inflation until they jack the interest rates above the REAL rate of inflation. This will instantly bankrupt countries, governments, states, corporations, and local governments. Their access to capital will be severely limited and the economy will go into the sharpest deflationary depression in human history. Unemployment, unpaid landlords, collapsing banks,... this will all be the norm as EVERYTHING comes to a halt. A major debt jubilee will have to happen.

I paid 2.1% over spot for the bars. The coins were 5.4-5.8% over spot.

No taxes on either (for buying).

Its the Proof™ Finish on the statue and emblems that makes the whole coin pop, i dont know why they dont just make every standard silver coin a reverse proof, the silver squeeze would be already over and the cartels central banks out of business.

FYI- Reichsmarks are exactly half ASW as the German Empire Marks.

1M was exactly 5g ASW. 2RM is also 5g ASW. It's just a larger coin.

5RM = 12.5g ASW = 0.5* 5M coins
