"L2s are as secure as the L1"

Honestly every maxi who keep recycling this subhumanity should be lined up and shot, It's like they completely turned a blind eyes to the fact 99% of hacks/bugs are due to engineering holes which stem from complexity to begin with, And L2s, Especially advanced ZK stuff, Are beyond what even the most complex system in this space rightnow can even scratch.

Even the most mature systems in the world rightnow have critical bugs every once in a while, But the risk of critical bugs/coding imperfection in decentralised systems is much much higher because it's mostly irreversible.

Not saying it's not worth the experiment, It's interesting idea and kinda make sense (There are many shortcuts on the way to make it work' at least in the short-mid term) but other scaling philosophies should be encouraged, I feel like this whole modular narrative is being forced as a result of Ethereum current handicap

I don't think you understand what is occurring.
I am running bots look for transactions on certain tokens.
For example let's say someone tries to swap their safemoon.
Safemoon is very highly traded and has price impacts.
I can swoop in and front run their transactions.

The same thing is happening for a lot of new coin hacks. We just have bots monitoring for any transactions that create profit then front run them.

Is it not worse than that? As I understand it they sent tokens L1-->L2 then tried to deploy a multisig to put them in. However, someone was able to frontrun the poorly-constructed deployment, causing a tiny gain in the form of MEV, and the loss of 20M tokens.

This was all the fault of Wintermute being retarded and providing the wrong address, it could have happened the same way everywhere.
The Optimism team itself had no way to know - were they supposed to analyze the provided address (that looked like any other empty address), notice it exists as a contract on ethereum, notice the problem with the gnosis multisig, then tell wintermute they are retarded?

>> No.49473004

>>49471439
zks still can't handle smart contracts and it's likely they won't for a while. Not to mention it's even more experimental and untested than this Optimism crap.
>muh funding
No amount of funding will fix the fact the people developing this shit are preening ineffectual drama kids.

so now the only promising L2 is Arbitrum. Might succeed since Ed Felten is based and doesn't tolerate metrosexual shenanigans like Vitalik.
