I think metaverse is in for a long crab, financially speaking. Its not going to go down too much, but there wont be significant investment into it into the short term, either.
The metaverse market will truly begin booming by 2030-2035 or so when the boomers begin dying and it turns out that their wealth won't trickle down to the masses. That's when zoomers give up and dump all of their waging money into living their best life in the metaverse, businesses really go gung ho with the metaverse workplace concept, etc. As things stand right now, too many people have faith that IRL things could get better and the tech/games themselves just aren't quite where they need to be for gamers to throw their lives away WoW style. That kind of tech advancement will also likely coincide with the boomer exodus. We just need the right mix of good tech, good games, and social despair.
The right time to go all in (e.g. FB call options) will probably be 2026-27.
