If I bought a house, I'd basically only have to spend like 1k per month on misc. expenses, right (internet, property taxes, etc.) meaning you could live off of part time.. like 2 days of minimum wage work per week.

Is this why the real estate market is made into a speculative asset? To prevent people from living the easy life?
