> Lunch-flation. Soaring gas prices. Updating your work wardrobe. It’s no wonder many U.S. workers are resisting employer demands to head back to the office full-time.

> Despite many companies setting April return-to-office deadlines, for the past month, U.S. office occupancy has held steady at roughly 43%, according to Kastle’s Back to Work Barometer that takes into account rates in 10 major cities. Many employees are pushing back against heading into the office not because of rising COVID caseloads, but arguing that their commutes are too expensive. In fact, a recent report from Deloitte found nearly 40% of millennials and a third of Gen Zers report that remote work has helped them save money.

It forces people to dress up.
Forces people into meetings in an actual conference room instead of listening in to one while you are playing a game because there was no reason for you to be in the meeting.
Let you know that they control you by forcing you to come in and work.
They are also realizing people only do 2-3 hours of work a day, the rest of the time they are in the office they are doing nothing. They hate that they are paying someone not to work so they want them to come in and pretend to work so they can justify their salary.

That is what they are trying to hold off. If enough people WFH then it will get to the point where they will either demolish office buildings, turn them into apartments or some combination. The problem right now is a lot of businesses are stuck paying rent for office buildings and they hate seeing all the money they are spending on having an empty office. Some businesses have multiyear contracts with huge early termination fees with the office space they are renting.

Once contracts are up it wouldn't be surprising to see businesses not renew their office space contracts. Once that happens then you will have lots of empty buildings that will either get renovated as apartments or just demolished.

There's also that group of people that will defend the boomers and the managers. Some do it because they are a middle-manager and fear their job, others defend without knowing.

There will always be some people who state "I'm actually way more productive in the office" or "I actually work all 7 hours!"

And for those people, they can stay in the office. But the office space should be downsized 10x what it currently is. I'm sure there are people in your office that actually look like they're working the whole time. Not just pretending to work, but actually working the whole time. They're just slower and inefficient, but they still get things done in the same "work day" as you. The worthless contributors of society like government employees and (((journalists))), and the rich tech workers that stay at home all day and do one hour of work are the ones always protecting the system. Trust me the people doing actual labor don't need free time to realize how hard they're getting screwed. In fact if they were somehow able to coast like the rest of those groups the entire country would be getting triple boosted and celebrating $8 a gallon gas to defeat Russia like they do.

I actually started eating out more for lunch after my job became permanently remote than I did in the office. I would often skip lunch or just eat something at my desk in the office so I didn't have to take a lunch break and I could leave earlier. Now I'm looking for a reason to get out of my house for a bit and going out for lunch helps do that. I don't care about what time I quit working as WFH, if I take an hour for lunch now it just means I'm leaving my work computer turned on another hour while I'm fucking around on my personal computer right next to it. I also have better/cheaper/unpozzed options to eat at around my house than around the office.

Don't forget the cost of things they don't put a price on like the stress and waste of time of spending hours per day in gridlock traffic just to get to the office. If given the choice, how much more would you ask for so it's worth it for you to spend 1-2 or more hours in traffic every single day each way for decades than just "commuting" from your bed to your desk every single day?

I'd still be paying for the heating and internet, it's not like I turn them off for 8 hours to come back to a frozen house. I save an hour of my time every day by not driving to an office, which apart from the stupid gas prices in my area, is far more valuable to me than a few bucks for electricity or whatever the fuck

kek, nice bait anon but that's where you'd be wrong
I rarely eat anything outside meal hours even on the weekends
My apartment is set to the same damn temperature whether I'm there or not because jokes on you, I don't pay for it
I also leave my computer on 24/7 and the sunlight is what I use until the evening when I'd be home anyway
If anything I'd be using more water because I'd be using my own toilet but, again, I don't pay for water either

>Extra eating? Most people eat out more when they work in an office. People don't have time to do meal prep for lunch or make themselves breakfast half the time. You'll save a ton of money on food if you're working from home
This. The only way I've been able to cope is to start fasting on the days I have to go into the office. My coworkers have literally never seen me eat.

Bullshit.

Saved more money cutting out my commute from home and gaining my time back to make more money on the side. With Gas prices these days, it's not worth it driving to a Job unless you're desperate.

>Ridiculous scenario that would be a 1 in a million case because no one wants a 4h daily commute lmfao
Bullshit. During lockdown I moved 3 hours away from my job and told them I'm not going back to the office. I would however be happy to spend 6 of my 8 work-hours sitting on a train listening to music if they were willing to pay me for it.
