Morons let me explain how mentally retarded you are. Gold is worthless.
Gold is worthless in society collapses. Nobody uses gold in Weimar. Nobody uses gold in Venezuela. Nobody "held gold" in Weimar and "got rich" after because physical gold is a scam and nobody will buy it.
Nobody uses gold in the Black Death. Nobody used gold when Rome collapsed. All the gold stores are outside the empire because it's useless. The gold standard does not stop wars and the largest war in history was fought in the gold standard. The gold standard died because of the trade deficit, it impairs trade and not the budget deficit.
But that's not the point. The point is the stock market simply must die. Boomers live 70 years. 2% of the stock market must be sold every year for estate taxes.
It's impossible for the stock market to exceed 50x gdp. Because taxes are half, and yearly fluctuation is half, is impossible for the stock market to exceed 3x gdp or whatever people actually spend.
30% of the economy is healthcare. 10% is finance paid by interest on other things. 10% is retail. 10% is admins. 20% is government. That leaves only 30% of the economy as actual household expenditure. It's simply impossible for the stock market to exceed what people actually spend by a large multiple because estate tax and lawyers must take it when boomers die.
Us gdp is 20 trillion. The stock market is 49 trillion and bonds are 46. Real estate is 40 trillion and commercial is 16. All these assets added together are 7x gdp.
It's simply impossible for the market to keep growing when the fed is contracting. You will die at last and gold will be worthless. You'll die of peak oil in 6mo. /pmg/ is a retard board and will ignore.

But my crypto is doing really well (+60% in dollar terms over the last month, kek). I do have a few mil in stables I could put into gold, though.

I don't know. That would really be the limit, though - I think having like 750k of gold in the house is about as much as is sensible.

>This is why I think it might be a good time to sell crap I have sitting in my closet like decades old Magic the gathering cards. Sell them while everybody has excess dollars to waste from the dollar printing, then exchange worthless dollars for PM. I'm doubting people are so willing to buy Magic cards after everything collapses.
I have a bunch of old cards too. Some of the old ones on the reserve list are probably worth keeping because they have a level of 'collectability'. The cards that are easily reprinted that are $1-$100 range you may as well sell off, especially foils. I see all magic cards creeping up in price, however I do not see them keeping up with inflation. Luckily that doesn't matter so long as you can sell the cards and move them into silver you are fine. Magic is a very expensive hobby, and in hard times people will be unloading the cards they do not use. I also think Wotc started printing so many sets and secret lairs is to grab as much cash as they can because they know they will be hurting as a luxury good that is easily replaced with other entertainment. You lose crypto and stock gains and the wealth effect will have people not buying up expensive singles either. Do it now, for sure.

i just bought 20oz of silver a few minutes ago
With the shipping, a random service fee, the increased cost for using creditcard/paypal, and the premium that sellers charge, I paid right around $560.
Selling 20oz at spot price would net me ~$440, and that is assuming the buyers pay spot instead of offering less than spot.

Sure, silver might hold its value and keep up with inflation but what is the point if I getting back less value than I put into it?

I'd say sell them now as well as you can. Put up a price, have the offer up and forget about it.
I maybe sell 1-2 cards a month but it's usually at least one ounce I get out of it, those charizards sold like hotcakes for over 10 ounces each.
Buying old ones as investment? Shitty idea, it's paper with a print on. You'd not only have to wait for the economy to come back after a crash but also for rich whale collectors to return in order to get your investment back out.

yeah you lose out if you turn around and sell immediately, try to hold it for years. most of us are banking on complete currency collapse. people like schiff and paul have been saying its around the corner for decades, but i think they underestimated how many dollars the world can soak up. now things are seriously wrong as we sew inflation out of control and places like russia backed into a corner with their currency. i think things will move relatively quickly as far as inflation goes and by that i mean the next 5- 10 years we will actually see if schiff is right

Alright boomer microdick retard dicklet faggot zoomers, listen up. Silver is fucking worthless. It's literally dumped 90% since last year and won't stop any time soon. The thing about silver is that there's more than 100x as much in the ground as there is gold (which is also worthless), and its "industrial uses" are massively overrated because copper outclasses it for any conceivable use. Silver is going to zero, you'll be able to get it for free off of craigslist soon enough if you're willing to go clean it out of dejected stackers' houses and transport it away. Furthermore, asteroid mining operations will be up and running by 2030 and they will QUADRUPLE the supply. But let me guess, you think there's gonna be a big economic collapse - well SURPRISE you doomer dicklet underage faggots, you can't eat silver and you'll be trading your 10oz bars for lighters and bowlfuls of rice. That is if nobody breaks into your house and shoots you for your shiny rocks, or the government doesn't kick down your door and take it when they implement CBDCs. You've been brainwashed by kikes who want to get their hands on your cash, and you better realize it before it's too late and you're left with kilos and kilos of shit-metal that will be rusty and corroded long before it appreciates enough for you to recoup the premiums you've paid.

I like many things about that coin.

Pros:
* it's european and availability is good where I live
* the simplicity of the design
* the handsomness of the obverse (no homo, everyone like a good looking chap)
* the latin text instead of faggy french, german or roman dialects
* the size of the coin, 37mm, not too small, not too big, I can stack them in silver dollar tubes
* the text "DOMINUS PROVIDEBIT" on the tranche which is the old way of saying "WAGMI"
* it's silver

It's nice to provide alternative but I don't want to buy cuckpronickel coins. Gold. Silver. May be copper.

The world is consumed by a lie whose name is fiat.
Silver isn't worth anything and is viewed only as an industrial metal because if it wasn't then that pyramid would collapse very quickly, and that's why everything hinges on people not realizing that silver is becoming genuinely rarer by the day. Silver HAS to be worthless, otherwise that pyramid wouldn't be there.

I don't really see the point in JM Bullion offering "free shipping" if that means the shipping they use won't require a signature. You get free shipping +$199.

Orders over $1000 always require a signature. Which means if you place an order between $199 and $999 and you choose "free shipping" they're just gonna leave it at your door and if anything happens (like it's stolen or the delivery person does something with it) you are shit out of luck. Once it's shown as "delivered" that's where their responsibility ends.

I can't even find an option to add signature confirmation through Bullion Exchanges.

I feel it's a necessary thing and don't want stuff just being left outside my house. I haven't had problems with packages being stolen in my area but it's not like it's NOT a possibility. Imagine you place a $500 order and that package gets stolen (or "lost" somehow), how you think that affects your "average buy-in price"? It completely ruins it.

Honestly Apmex does it the best way I've seen so far when you can just add the sig confirmation for $3.99. That's reasonable to me. Better than the $13 option JM Bullion "recommends".

How do you guys deal with this issue? Free shipping is tempting but not if it's an inferior option.

>you can open an insurance claim to get your money back

That's the thing, if it's shown as "delivered" you can't do anything. Their responsibility is to ship the package to you safely. Once it's delivered that's it, the insurance ends. They are very clear about this.

If it disappeared "in transit", then yes you could get your money back.

The reason they do that is to avoid scammers just claiming someone stole their package when they really received it.

The signature IMO is a small thing that can turn into a big thing if things go wrong. It gives you that extra bit of security.

It's extremely weird, the auction was starting at 49e which is acceptable since those coins seems to have decent premium. Nonetheless, I don't buy silver with premium above 3% and sent a direct offer a 42e.
Can't believe it was accepted. I mean... why start an auction at 49 if you accept an offer at 42.

i dont know, i dont think its such a crapshoot. there are more variables (the 4 c) so people have a difference of opinion on what is more important, clarity vs size for example. but a huge shitty gem will take both the size and clarity into account for the price. sure, there are some who would never buy it because they appreciste clarity. it isnt priced for those people. for those who want the size it will be priced "appropriately"

i think the problem is that most people indeed arent educated in grading gemstones and dont really know what they want either. so reviews and seller feedback is of somewhat limited utility.

thats why its so easy to market diamonds to women because as long as they see thst sparkle thats all they care about.

but take a gemstone like a ruby thst is large, the perfect color, limited inclusions AND has fire, you will see less subjectivity in the price because theres nobody who wouldnt want it

Mexican 50 Pesos, LMU coins, Helvetia can be found with premium below 5% in Europe.
I even know a dude who managed to buy a few LMU coins BELOW spot price (=> thanks to cashback).

Of course none of those coins are "modern one". If you want cheap modern coins you need to use auction site and you need to partake in A LOT of bidding (the same way you have to try a lot of women to find a gf). Just look at my swiss chads buy today: pure luck.

A magnet, a scale, a calliper, my ear and the coin specification. For silver, this is all you need (I think). I don't care if the coin is fake as long as it's silber.

Gold/Tungsten fakes are trickier, I only buy gold from professional (and yes I can still get my 50 Pesos, Helvetia and LMU coins for cheap there). Honestly, fake are a real trouble for numismatic coin collectors, but for metal stacker... You don't care if the coin is authentic as long as gold is gold and silber is silber.

You also have apps and cheap tools to test the physical properties of the metal, and if you like to waste money you can buy a "sigma metalytics metal verifier".

Swastika. The 1933-1935 coins don’t have the swastika at all (despite similar design to the 35-39 big swastika ones) and are entirely undervalued compared to the ones that do. >Get a 1871-1919 silver German Mark coin instead.
Definitely. A general rule is that good art in Europe (with the exception of Italy, Switzerland and a couple other places) died out after WWI, nearly every European coin made after 1920 is ugly compared to older designs.
Buy one or two Swastika Coins just to have them, but the designs are almost all a bland format of denomination on one side and Reichsadler on the other, with the 2 and 5s having a design on one side with the Reichsadler on the other. The only decent looking coins the Nazis made were the Potsdam Church RMs, but even those are a tad bland compared to pre-1920 stuff and certainly expensive for how common they are.
>Probably be cheaper too.
I've normally paid $30-40 per ounce for my 3 and 5 Marks (excluding a couple rarer coins) whereas my Silver RMs have been around $45/oz, so there isn't that much difference in the premiums, but the Swastika tax is certainly real, especially on base metal coins.
You can also occasionally find Imperial 1/2 and 1 Marks for close to spot if you get lucky.

Nazis weren’t that good with art. Just the plain truth of the matter. Their best looking things tended to be things that were “German style” and not natively nazi. The Wehrmacht for instance, looked like a German Army. With the only real nazi thing on them, being the swastika which itself is not natively nazi. The architectural plans for a post war “Germania” city, look like what R. Lee. Ermey would call a “modern art masterpiece.” WW1 truly destroyed the world as much as WW2 physically did.

>selling collectable cards to exchange into PM
>I'd say sell them now as well as you can. Put up a price, have the offer up and forget about it.
Where do you put them up for sale? eBay or some specialized collectable card site that acts like an eBay? I have no experience selling secondhand stuff, and I haven't snail mailed in ages. I heard eBay gives you access to their shipping discounts, how does that work? Is it that print out a shipping label, and just bring it to the post office? Or is it dealing with the post office myself and getting jacked on the shipping charges?

I got a lot of old collectable cards from the 90's & 00's that just collects dust. and takes up space.

I'd actually argue that WWI destroyed the world more than WWII, WWII just accelerated the changes.
>Europe became (or at least began becoming) an Atheistic Continent after WWI.
>The old ideologies of "God, King and Country" that predominated Europe before the War and driven it to global dominance were completely washed away with that War and replaced with a rotating mix of Fascism, Nazism, Communism and Globohomo.
>You lost the ideas of objective truth and morals after WWI.
>Europe lost confidence in itself, after the war people the West as inately good as they did before the war: it planted the seeds for the Postmodern Nihilistic Self-hatred the predominates the minds of Western Elites today.
The only real transformation to the West that came out of WWII was the cementing of Europe as a collection of American and Russian Vassal States.

Guys why is spot so decoupled with what premiums are right now? I've been buying eagles since 2011 [yeah I know] and I've never EVER seen premiums so high.
JM bullion is selling eagles for 33.45 and spot is like 22, what the fuck? mark ups were like 10-15% tops but now it's a 50% mark up? who the fuck is selling their silver for that low when they can't get it back for even cheaper? Genuinely guys, is the last domino about to fall for spot to run up or are we going to be murdered by the retailer?

Buyers are panicked, sellers have what buyers want, they know buyers will buy in panicked state regardless of higher price, and so raise prices accordingly

I can only speak for Europe but I'm using cardmarket. They do all the heavy lifting for you, you can check out average sales price for specific cards in specific conditions, you upload a picture, tell people to "ask for more pics" and then you wait. People WILL ask for more pics to check on how honest you were about the condition, you just provide and say you're not in this professionally. If they try to haggle your well-researched price and you hate that, be generous and give them precisely those 5€s off you put on top just in case.
Cardmarket has a trust system which also calculates the shipping cost you HAVE to invest, so no gobshite like eBay where you think you got a good deal until you see 15€s in shipping. They freeze the assets until the wares came in, but if the buyer just fucking dies you can just claim it should've arrived and get your money anyways after some time. It's the best way to not get ripped off like you would on eBay.
Still waiting on this card to sell. A collector told me it's worth in the 300s even ungraded in that condition. In the meantime I shoot cheapies with swastikas on eBay whenever bored.
