What now? It's only $1000, can I just ignore it? No way these small-ball bozos will take this to court, right? No way it's more than a bluff, right? Attorney fees? Come on, there's no way they'll spend all that just to get $400 at most out of me

Oh so that's how it works. So if I just don't go to court and ignore them then they can't stop me right? I can just treat it like a scam and not respond to their stuff.

If you don’t show up they will issue a summary judgement in favor of the debt collection agency, awarding them the value of the debt, plus whatever other costs are specified in the lawsuit, since it will be uncontested by you.

What happens after that depends on your local laws.

>he answered the door
You know if you just didn't talk to him he couldn't serve you and if you don't get served they cant sue

>> No.49362295

>>49362250
If you ignored them this wouldn't have happened. Never talk to debt collectors once. Never open your door for strangers if you have bad debt. Go ghost

if you got handed papers you have to go to court though, so you're fucked

>> No.49362298

>>49362275
They only have to say they served you, you saying you were never served never really works, even if you actually weren’t. Also, depending on your state, they may not have to serve you in person.

I’m a professional debt evader. Here’s what you do.

You’ll have 30 days to answer the summons once you’ve been served. You wait until the very last day possible and go to the court house with your answer. Your answer will be “statute of limitations of the debt has ran out.” Regardless if it has or not, that will be your answer.

After that, they have 30 days to respond to your answer, but they won’t, especially over $1000. They issue hundreds of not thousands of these summons in hopes that broke nigger retards either don’t answer or show up to get raped in court.

You can check the court docket for the day your case is being held and I guarantee there will be 5-10 other retards being sued by the same company.

Worst case scenario they actually do answer back, you go to court and offer them 1/4 to 1/2 of the original debt, they probably paid $100-250 for that debt and any money they can get, they will take.

contact their attorney and say that you'll settle. if you fight they will actually lose more on attorney fees.

I heard that this is actually what they want. To settle and get something rather than nothing. Maybe I'm better off doing this? >>49362377

no, don't listen to this idiot. you'll still end up paying. I work for workers comp attorney and sometimes he deals with civil matters. We had a business owner come in with no insurance and he had a worker break a bone, they were fine but they still took him to court. The attorney told him to contact the Defense and that he will settle, the guy didn't have much and they would not get much out of him anyways. I processed his paper work only ended up paying 3k plus attorney fees instead of 5k.
