Does anyone even know how futures work? I tried looking into it, and I see one is launching Sunday EST but then it said they "settle" on like the third wednesday of every month.

When it settles the shorts have to pay the longs the value of index price at that time. When they settle a new set of futures can be traded that will be settled the next month.
