It's a controlled market. Literally at this stage in the game, price of your PMs don't matter until the debt bubble pops and is resolved. Banks need PMs to look like a do-nothing investment because the banks need you to keep your capital in their system as it is what gives their bank deposits purchasing power.

Yeah, I also think there's a more logical explanation to high premiums other than concerted market manipulation. All the PM retailers were met with a surge in demand after the invasion so eventually they had to order new supplies at spot. Now they're sitting on a bunch of inventory they bought above current spot. What are they gonna do? Sell at a loss? Naturally they would rather jack up premiums to at least break even, it's basic economic rationality on an individual level, no conspiracy needed.

>> No.49307621

The reason premiums are higher on silver compared to gold is that silver has much higher volatility.

The premium on silver works the exact same as options premiums of volatile stocks - the more volatile a stock is, the higher the premium.

Premiums on silver have been oscillating between $1.5 over spot to $3.0 over spot (for kilos) for the past 2 years based on volatility and dealer hedging alone.

With fractional gold the premiums don't explode like with other metals. It's gold after all, and there's literally billions of sovereigns.

Fucking New Yorker. get hit by one mid grade hurricane and it still scares them to this day. It didn't even kill anyone in their shithole of a city iirc, but due to their insanity for not having any sort of flood control it buried them in water.
Meanwhile Florida Man sees Cat 5s give a direct hit and sustain only 1/3 the damage in dollar costs.

Sorry, I find his metaphor for severe economic peril to be outrageous.

>> No.49309846

It's a grift. Some foreign mint (Scottsdale in this case) pays them for the privilege to mint coins in their name, because people are more willing to swallow higher premiums on government coins vs generic bullion. They aren't ever used as currency and almost none even enter the countries borders. The curtain lifted a bit when they decided to mint those 2018 Tridents fresh this year. Apparently they were allowed to make up to a certain amount but didn't hit that target in 2018, so now that demand is higher there's no reason not to fill out the rest of the order. Barbados already signed off on it, people gobble them up, everybody wins! Until some sad sod tries to sell them to a coin shop and finds out they can only get spot.

Slow n' steady wins the race. Also stay the fuck away from silver. It's literally almost identical to copper which is 2$ an oz. I'm serious it's only 6% better at conducting/heat transfer and copper is much better at anti-bacteria. Buy platinum, it is magical and can't be replaced by anything that isn't a PGM. Gold is overpriced but not bad. Silver is a literal scam devised by JP Morgan who holds the entire supply, originally devised to take the heat off of GME stock during the reddit squeeze.

That said, I do have a lot of silver. Problem is that dumbass redditors do too, and we all know they have weak hands. Stay mostly cash for the short-term upcoming depression. Buy platinum(any PGM) or strategic metals.

Platinum is not used only in cars, that is palladium. In fact platinum is more for diesel, so I don't see the usage going down anytime soon. You're forgetting that plat is vital for hydrogen storage and gathering. It's literally the skeleton key of bio-chemistry, a catalyst that doesn't de-grade.

Stay in cash for the short-term, June will have massive rate increases. But I will say that it will be pretty chaotic like in March 2020 and getting any commodity could be a challenge, so buy early if you want.

I only have silver because I fell for the meme. I don't hate it but I think that it's subpar investment compared to other metals like ruthenium (65$->750$ an oz!!). Honestly zinc is probably a better investment too at this point. Thing is they take a lot of space, but the gains would be what you're looking for in silver.

Keep in mind that Russian plat has been banned, and now the price to produce 1oz is over 800$, it was cheaper to buy Russian plat that South African. Those are the 2 main supplies.

Now if u want another metal, rhenium. It's mined on a volcanic island north of Japan that is a toxic dangerous environment, but also under territory dispute from Japan-Russia. The price is great compared to what it was 10yrs ago

Anon, who's going to be buying these metals in a bear market? The industries that typically use things like PGMs or Zinc don't tend to perform very well in a recession. In any deflationary scenario, Industrial metals fall like rocks. They'll soon be crashing again just like they did during the Dotcom Bubble or in '09.

platinum is much much harder to mine than gold and it's only really concentrated in SA and some in Russia. Meanwhile gold is highly distributed all over the world.

Everything crashes in a recession, even PGMs, but they rebound. Problem is that pretty much everything is impossible to get during that time period(like March 2020). Bullion dealers will all close up shop and this time I wouldn't be surprised if shipping was impacted too - especially with 10$/gallon gas.

the problem is that China is just as much, if not more of a smoke & mirrors financial scam as the West is

i guess you know the world is fucked when the over leveraged, mystery meat USA led by (((elves))) is legit the cleanest game in town

Yeah one of the biggest problems with China is obviously the totality of their obfuscation, hence why I only guess that they have the largest gold reserves (no one knows except Xi and his cronies). The world is truly a shit show, which is why I'm here.

I look at my other investments for things to sell to buy more silver. It feels safer being diversified, and a modest dividend portfolio to collect some pocket cash while we wait for the shitshow to unravel is nice. Even though I believe a market crash is bound to happen, owning high quality commodity producers feels safe when a massive number of extremely wealthy people, including retirees/boomers own it too. There is somewhat of a safety of the crowd in this regard that makes me feel safe enough to have my toe dipped into the market. Most of my money at this point goes into silver at this point though. If the meme stocks pop off and shit doesn't downright collapse then I can spend on stocks if I want. (As no doubt, the metals will all be bought up as well as people start rushing their newfound wealth out of the system)

I seriously doubt ANY country EVER will go back to a gold/silver standard, the fiat paper currency printer is way to convenient.
The only way to bring back wealth, prosperity and independence to the people if they always keep hoarding physical gold and physical silver. Even if they get paid with paper notes, you must always convert everything you want to save into physical precious metals.
Physical silver and physical gold are like guns and ammo in the economical realm. You never want to give them up.

That's what I want to do too. Other commodities seem promising, idk. Or maybe gamble a bit in crypto to buy more silver.

International trade is going to revert back to a net-zero balance of trade. The gold standard policed zero balance trade because if you paid for more imports with gold then your economy would contract. So no country ever wanted more capital outflows so they never bought more than they could afford. The globalist system ran into a wall, BIG TIME.

I don't see the US having pulled a Canada. It just isn't in our mindset, having a boatload of gold is a way to exert influence over other nations, and the US loves to exert influence.

Knox is empty. If it wasn't, Powell and Yellen and Congress would talk about it. But they don't, because it's empty.

Knox is not empty, although the gold may be leased many times over. All we need to do is confiscate it and America is fine. America has been extracting resources from the world 100% hell bent on saving our own. There is definitely a long-term mentallity to America that we are not necessarily privvy to. I don't see the kikes whisking all the gold off to Isreal without them facing blowback.

Selling 1oz coins is extremely liquid. You can go into any coin shop (not a pawn shop) and get spot. You can higher than spot for Eagles or other government minted coins.

>I seriously doubt ANY country EVER will go back to a gold/silver standard
i can see several ways.
1. international and national trust in the nations fiat completely crater. the only way this nation can rebuilt trust is a back currency
2. Im a bit of a zeihanist, and with the US intentionally crashing globalism the world will go back to the old ways of "empires" having seperate internal economies from each other. england and its colonies, US and canada, mexico etc.
3. inflation/recession/depression sends the population into a absolute panic. bank runs, riots, blood on wall street because of instability. what is very stable? gold/silver currency. imagine how popular a president or party would be for "saving" the nation with a new backed dollar. they'd run the nation for decades like the democrats did after the new deal.

It's a good choice if a full oz is too much to buy. You can get premiums back if you sell via private party; even lots of multiple fractionals keep some of the premium.
