That's true. But ETH 2.0 essentially makes all the drawbacks it currently has go away. Particularly scalability issues. So it will remain the go-to dapp project.

Interesting thoughts you are having.
So you believe ETH will be dominant in the long run? I am not sure. Different blockchain projects are partnering with different industry players. ETH is a major one and the likelihood of it staying on top is high imho. However, as adoption becomes more widespread and several blockchains mature and are used by different players interoperability becomes more important. ARK becomes more important then.
I simply doubt that either BTC or ETH will stay all powerful just because of their first-mover advantage. This is a very young industry, blockchain is here to stay.
However, ARK taking a prime spot in 2018 already simply seems overly optimistic regarding its importance and impact at that point. 2018 is ETHs year
