Im even worse. I knew about bitcoin in the early days and knew about ethereum when it was sub 1 dollar. I thought all cryptocurrencies had the purpose of becoming alternative currencies and i was always like "lol this shit will fail long term. No way bankers will ever let anyone take away their power, they jave too much control"

I just realised that not all cryptocurrency are supposed to simply be alternative currency in the middle of this year when a friend of mine that bought sub 1 dollar ethereum started shilling me it.

I blame the name "cryptocurrency", my stupid lazyness and bitcoin for this major fuckup in my life

Vanguard has the perfect mutual funds: spread across the good coi-stocks in the market, charge barely any management fees because you don't have to have a bunch of nerds and wallstreet jews sitting around plotting buys and sells, let your money grow with the biggest companies in the market. It's actually called Mimblewimble and it's really cool.

It can ensure privacy with encryption by monitoring the total money supply to prevent the creation of new coins.

It can also lock the blockchain at a size of 1 block, iirc, by using a system of linked inputs and outputs, which allows previous blocks to be discarded.

>wasting electricity for the sake of it
You’ve totally misunderstood proof of work. The objective of mining is to reward those who follow the rules and punish those who do not. With PoW the punishment is from paying for electricity without reward. With PoS it’s from forfeiting existing coins. With PoWalk it’s through burning gasoline

I know but I am too old for the trade I want in other branches. Not that I mind cleaning peoples boots and being subservient, you have to pay your dues regardless. But, providing I get my NCO qualifications out the way I will be eligible for officer which I would be too old to go for if I took a year out now before I joined to gain the necessary qualifications. They only didn't allow me right away after my RT scores because I didn't have the qualifications. I'll be gaining this after a year of being in during my NCO training. Not that I am too fussed about becoming an officer, I am more in it for the trade. If I can't learn Electrical and marine engineering and then onto something more akin to what I am really into (robotics) then I won't bother with going for officer. If I can't get that trade advancement in ill leave after my ~4 years are up anyway and go do it elsewhere. I'll just see what happens desu. I turned down the nuclear engineering on a sub with a paid for degree already because a)submariners are fucking crazy people (something about being underwater that long makes you weird according to my mate whos in) and b) it's not the trade I wanted.
I want to get into automation and robotics eventually. Hopefully I can do that while I am in service and get to work in some R&D but most likely I will have to get out for that as a lot of it is contracted out now. Gonna make me some drones bitches or something nerdier like automated factories, satellites and interplanetary rovers and things. OK, a bit far fetched but one step at a time. Basic electrical engineering first and I will see what happens! It would be cool to know how to do some of that stuff regardless. If I make it big at least I will have something more than money to my name. End goal is a small holding or farmstead somewhere with a forge and workshop where I can make swords and robots and stuff for fun. If crypto gets me there faster then great, if not then I am happy to work for it.

I reckon if I can get 1-2btc maybe 10 ETH and 20% of that in alts I will be golden. Big IF tho. I am at 0.35 btc lol. Should get some more back once this dip ends but still. Hmm, I also need to draw some $ out for a car to get me to and from base. Spent the last year learning to drive and passed in sept but I used my savings for the car to invest in crypto. At least I am up so far lol.

huh, sure! Can we go mining for raw materials for the forge too? Well, raw Iron. Gonna build me a smeltery! I might also want a bunker stocked with enough supplies to last 3-5 years... Just in case ;)
I am starting to think I played too much fallout growing up.

The fees on the Lightning Network depend on the route of the transaction and the amount of fees the nodes in between are taking. This example was most a direct connection of the paticipants in the network, therefore 0 fees. Note that the fees in the beginning will likely be 0 too because everyone in the LN will be excited to participate in the network but economically everyone will be forced to take (very small) fees for routing transactions.

Year 2040

>After a series of good investments with small coins , you are finally able a house in a good zone.

>A little above your budget, sure, but its probably worth it.

> Next to you, enormous mansions filled with jaguars, your house been the smallest one in the block. A good neighborhood at least.

> Next day you wake up and realize your neibohor looking for something.

> "I cant find my Lamborghini keys anywhere." He tells you.

> After hours, you finally help him find it.

> Next day a similar story occurs, but with another neighbor.

> "I can't find my BMW keys"

> This happens the whole week with everyone in the block.

> You realize now that everyone in the whole urbanization consists of people that mined bitcoin and then forgot about it for years, eventually rediscovering them and turning them into insta millionaires.

> Your face when you moved into literal millionaire Alzheimer town.

> These people rule the world but they keep forgetting about stuff all the time

> You and your clever trading were not match against a bunch of people who kept forgetting where they put their keys.

> You commit suicide.

The future looks bright, pals.

that's John Bogle. The guy who popularized mutual funds, especially index funds, as a better long-term investment strategy than using financial advisors.

He also seems like a really good guy if you ever listen to interviews with him.

Well i still think bitcoin will fail miserably in the long term, in hindsight i would have bought bitcoin but i would never hold it for a lot of years. i would however have invested in ethereum 100% if i knew back them that is was about smartcontracts and ICOs and i would probably have held until today
