If you haven't already, read Dune.

After you read Dune, read Dune Messiah. Then Children of Dune. Then, after those, go read God Emperor of Dune, followed by Heretics of Dune. Finally, read Chapterhouse: Dune.

Once you finish those reads, in that order, you will realize that they are really good.

It's just really, really good.

As for what it has to do with business, I dunno.

Shit's dope as fuck though.

Maybe it'll inspire you to start a stillsuit manufacturing company, or teach you about sand finance.

Who cares though it's boner-inducingly awesome.

I'll counter the guy that said he made nothing after reading it with my experience, all true. I was broke and made $1,300 the month before reading it, and $19,000 within a month of closing the last page. It was the beginning for me of a now decade long tenure of working for myself. I made $2,500 so far this morning.

It's not for everyone but I've had more conversations about this book with more wealthy people than any other single title. It is a very effective book for some. Personally so effective for me I can almost open the book to any given place to find a solution to any given problem(almost). Quite literally what OP asked for, a business bible...for some.

The book isn't a specific path or manual for any given strategy towards success. It's more of an outside of the box frame-work or way of thinking about business, that if it resonates with you can literally provide some serious hacks, or shortcuts to many common entrepreneurial and business situations.

It's also good at helping you find focus and a place to aim your efforts if you aren't sure of what direction to to take.

Written by the tag-along and confidant to a big, old money American style empire. It's not a manual, but it's precise and inspirational for many.

Its not the book, its just that you're naturally charming. If you're a introverted dweeb who's anxious about talking to people or an explosive, egotistic psychopath like most successful salesman, this book won't help you a damn bit because reading something is one thing, and executing it is another. I've read it, hasn't done anything for me because I'm not naturally like that and you can't change your personality because of a book. If you could, everyone would be masters of conversation and human interaction.

Read this book before starting a venture.

Stopped pursuing it immediately after reading this,

More successful and better income than before with less effort.

What book(s) should I read as a total /biz/ newbie, to get the right mindset and motivation?

>> No.466079

>>466030
Absolutely not, no.
It's not a get-rich quick scheme.
The information applies to any business, which is why this book still sells twenty plus years later.

The E in 'E-Myth' stands for Entrepreneur.

The 'myth' of the title/concept, is that anyone who starts a business or is self-employed,
Is by nature, and by definition, an entrepreneur.

If that were true, why do so many fail over and over?

The book answers that, and explores what a business is, how it should act and behave, why people work for themselves in the first place.
The roles of technician, entrepreneur and manager, which we all have as alter egos to a degree,
But the entrepreneurs traits must be nurtured.

=your psychology and habits

Why customers use a product or service, what they expect, who to sell to, how to sell

=crash course in customers psychology, sales, marketing

Processes, standards and systems of a multinational corporation, why you should start thinking and acting like one from day one.

=you are not supposed to complete tasks, shuffle papers around on a desk, wear a suit, make phomecalls, etc - building a business is building a system that becomes bigger than you.

You work on business development and refine each part of the process so it is foolproof, automatic, self-governing, and saleable or franchisable, or sellable as a subscription or network service.

It all might sound boring, but it is written in an entertaining, engaging style that is mostly a series of conversations -

With you, with clients he has consulted, in a kind of parable form.
There is a philosophical touch too.

My first business plan was crazy, I was basically planning to do everything myself, there was no growth plan.
