Let's talk banks.

What is the best US Bank? Why is it the best?

As a foreigner, how hard is it to open a bank account in the US?

>> No.451910

Any credit Union

Very easy, unless you are a gommie terrorist

>> No.452769

Don't ever bank at bank of america, but it all depends on what you are looking for. If you travel I wouldent go with a credit Union but if you don't credit unions are the way to go.

>> No.453093

I'd also avoid Citi

Its as shitty as BofA but with an international flavor.

Use a credit union instead

>> No.453121

>>451910

this

credit unions generally have better service, but their "international banking" options probably aren't as good

that being said, when it comes to the big banks Citi has never wronged me. I hear horror stories about BOA and JPMC though

Chase isn’t too bad. Never had any complaints and been with them for about 10 years now back when it was WaMu

PNC Master Race reporting in. Great technology and their Virtual Wallet app is awesome.

also have partners federal credit union as i have a relative who works in disney. worst credit union ever. horrible customer service and policies. they actually charge you to use them if you don’t do direct deposit and unless you ask for the basic checking and savings which is free they will not tell you about it. only have them because i got a good rate for a car loan. once i pay it off I’m closing the account

>> No.453204

Credit unions are for the neets who can't into a real bank.

I have an account at citi. Great service and cash exchange, present in a shitload of countries and with a lot of perks in them. Not for poor people if you are outside of usa

>> No.453632

If you stick on the east coast and you want a big bank I would bank with TD bank. I may be bias because I work for them but they are the #1 growing bank right now.

>> No.453634

"Best" is subjective. It depends on your priorities, what services you want, and if you travel.

>> No.453635

We all know who the real problem is... Wells Fargo.

>> No.453637

What problems are people having with these banks? I've been a member of Chase and Citi for 7+ years and BoA for over 3 now and have had no problems.

>> No.453662

>>453635
what's wrong with Wells Fargo?

>> No.453664

People knock BoA all the time but I've honestly yet to have an issue with them.

>> No.453665

theyre all the fucking same just get one with no fees

>> No.453884

I would say TCF is the worst. only dumb teens and spics use tcf. I use chase they are ok. No real complaints. I kinda hold a grude on em since I applied for a job and wasn't hired. lol

>> No.453919

I just moved to Florida and have no idea who to open an account with.

Purposefully attempting to bamboozle people into transaction fees by selectively processing transactions rather than updating them instantly like every other bank in the 1st world.

Well, Chases are everywhere. As I mentioned, I have PNC Bank which offers ATM reimbursement up to $8 per month, meaning I never pay ATM fees. VirtualWallet is a cool app (iOS and android) and their online scheduling is awesome too.

Personally, I've found different branches act differently. One branch in my area is shit and can't seem to do anything right while another rolls out the red carpet for me and does whatever I want them to do.

Probably because you've never had to use their customer service to solve any account discrepancies.

>> No.454520

>>453919
Join you local Credit Union and be a member not a customer. It is good to get a vote for who is on the board of directors and not just get charged fees.

Never had problems with capital one. Apparently this means they're the perfect bank when I hear the horror stories with other banks

>Live in Idaho
>July '13 BoA sells all bank accounts to Washington Federal Bank in Idaho, delays announcement to account holders for 4 months.
>Jan. '14 arrives. New bank is shit. Merrill refuses to provide any service to existing members regarding what bank they are to move profits from stock trades to.

How about a cup of rage?

PS, moved all cash from Washington Federal to two different credit unions.

Never again!

Fuck Bank of America!

>> No.455331

Chase Bank

I've scammed so much fucking money out of them over the past few years

How'd you go about doing that

>> No.455475 [DELETED]

Ultra basic saving account at any brick and mortar bank with the bare minimum free deposit ($300-500) + all other accounts at online banks like Capitol One 360 or Ally. The only point of having a physical bank membership should be only to be able to deposit cash/MO/checks that online banks don't accept and currency exchanges. Anything else is just plain stupid.

The ones that keep sending you those credit card applications in the mail. The whole heroine for 12 months then turns you into a whore for life with 25% APR.
