If you'd started investing in 2006 or something I'd say go for it and buy as much gold as possible. But today it's a depreciating asset and you can buy a lot of things with a far better ROI, Cryptocurrency, ETF stocks, Real estate all give better returns right now. Hell even leaving your money on the bank is technically better than buying gold now since the market will get flushed with freshly mined gold soon.

I also said this a couple of years ago when the automated shale revolution happened and I said the oil price would crash down to $50 a barrel. The same is happening with mining right now so at least wait until the price of gold has become stable at a far lower price before you buy it.
