Well, at the very least, Rubycoin is still climbing, even though it had a bit of a drop while I was gone. Holding onto 6,000 of those babies right now, and it looks like if I just wait and bide my time they should valuate nicely.

What does anybody else think of RBY? It looks to me like a nice mid-term/long-term coin. Any opinions?

Falls usually only happen once people start talking about the coin on Twitter, in my experience. In such a case, I think it's safe to hold until it starts getting a lot of coverage, then sell after the initial pump before the fall.

Best way to learn is to follow these threads, follow the twitter accounts posted by OP, check in with the bitcointalk forums, and more importantly pay close attention to the main markets (bittrex, mintpal, and others) and watch what generally happens with coins. Put down some chump change on bitcoin, buy into the altcoins you hear being talked about and watch what the markets do with them.

Best thing I can think of that would get a coin to take off in the real world is better privacy than Bitcoin. Nothing else that's coming out really affects anything that a user would care about more than that, if they're using this sort of thing in the first place.

I am aware of Darkcoin and Neutrino that try to do this. Are there any others?

We did not find evidence of an existing hidden premine, but extra coins could potentially be minted all at once at the end of the PoW phase, sent to exchanges via the "anon" feature, and dumped.

We have other concerns about the coin, particularly concerning the proposed method of anonymity, but the shenanigans with the maximum supply is sufficient for us to reject this coin.

CLOAK is a far superior coin, and it's pretty much inevitable in the next few weeks or so that we'll see Monero take a dive and CLOAK blast off, possibly past Monero's current value.

This sell wall is most likely a competitor, and is the only thing holding back the pump right now.

In a silver-lining aspect, though; this is also very opportunistic for those who have yet to buy into SC. Plow through that wall for the boost of what you already have and/or plow through it as an entry point and you'll make a very satisfying profit regardless by the end of the day.
