>bachelors in engineering, taken through calc 3
>tutored my retard sister in College Algebra(I can't even believe that's a thing)
>theres a big teaching college right down the street
>posted a craigslist ad offering tutor services for $25/hour
>have gotten like 20 calls, mostly college girls who want to become teachers, asking when I can meet up

Is tutoring the easiest way to take money from idiots?

Better question would be: why do you even remember how to calculate determinant of a matrix when this isn't even used on monthly basis. People who take tutoring in collage algebra have to have a shitty teachers or it's relatively unrelated to their degree.

you just didnt do enough math.

if youd done linear algebra, abstract linear algebra, numerical methods in linear algebra, linear programming, DE courses which use tons of linear algebra etc. you'll never forget it.

was 5+ years ago for me and I can still tell you all kinds of shit about eigenvalues, jordan form etc let alone when matrices are invertible and basic shit

Anyone who learned the proper fundamentals from Algebra through Calculus should be able to review anything they learned over that time and pick it up again very quick

It's like riding a bike or throwing a ball, you might not remember every single step, but if you try to pick it up again you'll have no problem after a few minutes.

But the shit I'm helping these kids with... these poor kids are in their early 20s and don't know how to factor polynomials or multiply fractions

Oh don't exaggerate, I passed algebra, geometry, mathematical analisis and discrete mathematics with an A in collage while studying CS.
I just don't use these in daily life. Doesn't mean I couldn't pick it up quickly again if needed. The same goes for calculating integrals and some algorithms. Who the fuck bothers to keep this in their RAM all the time.
