Serious question:

If you had $15k of spare money in your bank's savings account, would you throw $10k into bitcoin based on its value on where it might end up in the future?

I'm on the edge of just taking the plunge. I have a Roth and other investments too - so this isn't my everything. It's just so crazy to go into the market and slap down $10k - even when I think that Bitcoin will increase in value over the coming years.

i'd rather throw $15k.

Personally would not liquidate that much money at once. Imagine if Trump tweets some negative shit about crypto the day after you buy.

Depends how young you are. I'd say take the risk if you're under 25. You'll have enough time to make it all back, though you'll lose out on interest. However, with the potential gains I think the risk is well worth it. If you're a beginner, I suggest taking a month or two and just playing around with $100 or so. Just learning the ropes, learning patterns, cryptocurrencies that you trust have value.

Thanks. I understand the realities and I'm pretty sharp on the probabilities of day trading (attached is some notes I made for today). I already lightly day trade it and own a bit of longterm coin already but I'm looking for a serious hodl. I just watched the netflix documentary and saw the argument about developing countries finding this extremely useful and I'm like.... oh god.. I should hodl more.

I can certainly recover this money in the longterm and have a house and such. I just know if have an emotional roller-coaster experience watching bitcoin move around with 10-15k more into it.

I'm just wondering here - how much personal stake of your money have you put into bitcoin? And what is one of the most exciting things about its fundamental value to you?

Me personally would throw $0 to it and probably start saving it for a down payment on a house or something.

I probably would invest it in the market to be honest. I most likely would just keep 5500 on the side until 2018 comes around and just max out my IRA and as for the rest, I would just dump it in my Build Wealth account and leave it.

I've got TLH+ enabled and blah blah. Not shilling here but that's what I would do anyways. YMMV though.

nope just watch the market atm its still on a down trend

Yes buy the bitcoin and keep it 100% secret from anyone. Also the IRA taxes will hurt but you''ll make it back. Its either 1.5% growth maybe or BTC.

Like I said, I already have a house. I run it duplex style and rent out half of it and it pays 90% of the mortgage.

I haven't maxed my roth this year though. Maybe I'll take $10k, max the Roth, then put the rest in Bitcoin.

It's really hard to see how bitcoin is not the future. It's straight up better than fiat. I know a better coin could come along but bitcoin is hitting critical mass. Everyone is taking it seriously now.

Bitcoin's fundamentals are actually pretty weak compared to other coins out there. At this point, it is more valuable as a store of value. Like digital gold. By the way, technical analysis of charts won't do you any good with crypto. People only use that to shill coins. The crypto market is way too volatile and fast to bother with TA.
