just a quick question

If all bitcoins would have been given away from since the start equally
between those who would want it during a year long period.

How different the distribution would be by now?

>> No.3622431

Then we would have like 1M BTC left, because all the normies would have lost their coins. LOL

do you know how cheap they were for the first year? They did basically give them away. Distro would be no different now.

Exactly the same? At the beginning everyone could mine solo with one CPU. It was very easy to mine thousands of BTC.

Then you'd have only a few hundred/thousand people owning a few hundred/thousand BTC each.

At the beginning you could use a cheap CPU to mine. People on the original cryptography mailing list installed and mined to support Satoshis project and reportedly turned the thing off sometimes because they didn't want to hear the PC fan and whatnot (effectively missing out on millions).
There were projects like Hashcash in place so this didn't all emerge from a vaccum
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hashcash
Yet this real was fairly academic and not as simple for people who don't use the command line.
Today the latest number I heard was that 70% of all BTC is owned by 10%, but I think it's a bit worse. Still not as bad as the general wealth distribution in the world.
Mind you, ETH was a few cent per ICO and just 1$ even 2 years ago. Monero was 40cent two years ago. 200 NEO cost 3.2$ at ICO. In fact 25$ for 1 NEO is still cheap.
Note that MTL will not have KYC wallets with fiat connection where you can also spent BTC and ETH. And there's no mining but MTL reward for wallet use (light flight points at an airline). Maybe it'll work to make coins a normie thing
