Nobody from management has given out any information as to the nature of the takeover?
Plenty of companies get bought without people getting fired. Sometimes they just replace upper management, but if you were that you'd probably not be asking this question.

If you lose your job from this it's similar to downsizing. It shouldn't be held against you when you apply for a new job.

You'll be fine, just keep your head down and the quality of your work up.

And as you said, you live at home, you're not going to get kicked out in to the street if you get shitcanned, so calm down.

No, I didn't even see this coming. I rarely go to our office as I'm in the field nearly 100% of the time and I have my own thing going on.

Still sucks though, I was just starting to go to school again too.

Has anyone been through something like this? Are there any signs I should look for? One thing I was going to ask was for a raise but they're probably looking to cut costs and "streamline" as it is so I probably should just keep my mouth shut.

It's odd if you were bought out and none of your coworkers had talked to you about it. Was the company in dire straights? Why did the new owner buy you? Are there a bunch of people who do what you do, or are you fairly specialized.
