Specifically, you are not allowed to give people any incentive to post insubstantial posts in your threads.

I suppose the incentive was there, and I guess we should've gotten them into this thread or into our IRC or something.

I've a question though, did you take their Rightcoin off their hands? Was it a 1:1 conversion? Because if that is correct it is a trade.

I always thought that the reddit community was, at least in some regard, continuously propping up the price of Dogecoin.

Then I found out that everyone on /r/dogecoin has no money. At all.

Then I saw the price start to drop and assumed that people with money would start buying on the way down.

Reality has set in and, money is being moved out of Dogecoin, letting the price fall to a level that can be supported by everyone who isn't "big money". That level is MUCH lower than you would think. I wouldn't be surprised if Dogecoin hit 30 Satoshi again, as there is no urgency whatsoever to buy.

Right now, we're playing the "how low will it go before someone with money decides to pump it" game. And barring new, active developments from the devs, I'll be selling at least some of my stake on that pump. Cash-poor Reddit will rejoice that the price was up and that it just needed time, and normal markets and all that, but obvious pump will be obvious and the dump will come just as quickly.

When nothing changes and money pulls out, money doesn't go back in for anything other than short term gains.

Someone is going to make a killing off the impending pump and it's going to be fucking hilarious to watch.

I think somewhere around 40 (or $20m market cap) is the best price that you'll get.

Basically Namecoin... the closer Doge gets to Namecoin the stronger the buy. Sometimes it takes comparison for people to say "wait, what the fuck is going on here" and hop in.

Doge is very much kill at the moment.

This gives the innovators more power to push trough changes in the coin, which can be an advantage in the long run.

Also even Bitcoin has had multiple harsh price corrections during it's lifetime and more than once it lost over 70% over it's value.

BTC
07.06.2011 - 16.11.2011 -> -92.9%
04.09.2012 - 05.07.2013 -> -71.2%

Highest Dogecoin closing price was 12.02.2014 (Fettbürger: 2/12/2014) at 279 Satoshis.

70% drawdown = 83 Satoshi
80% drawdown = 56 Satoshi
85% drawdown = 42 Satoshi
90% drawdown = 28 Satoshi

Deal with it.

All these guys wantig people to abandon DOGE seem to have forgot how much BTC has suffered in it's lifetime, as >>358784 kindly pointed out. A coin as big as DOGE does not "just die" after one peak. Give it a few months and big money will be rolling in again, we'll have another bubble. It happened to most of the bigger cryptos, why would it stop now? And don't give me the argument that the devs are incapable (which they actually are). There will always be people with a lot more money than all of you who will play the market when they want to. They don't care about how good the dev is, they see the stupid amount of NEETs playing with their monopoly-money and the potential to make a nice fat profit. Why should they want to stop making money with DOGE or any other cryptocurrency for that matter? You can always bet on greed. I know that's shitty for a currency and especially shitty if you want something stable, but that is the shit all of us have to put up with. And for all of you who don't want to put up with it anymore, just wait for a bit, there will be a good point to sell for a nice profit in the future.
I hope Wolong comes back, that guy and his incompetence cracked me up. Or did the Yakuza finally get him?

I have no hope in DOGE anymore. The fact that a dev even CONSIDERED increasing the amount of DOGE released until the end of the year by 50% just to get a few more miners in for a short term is just crazy. On top of this, the community repeatedly says "we're not in it for profit" or "1Doge=1Doge". They don't seem to realize that if doge doesn't have any value, there won't be any crowd-funding. There won't be any tipping. There won't be any charity. Everyone will leave if doge isn't for profit. I think the community has been led down the wrong path by a hug-zone hivemind of idiots, and it's too late to stop it and turn it around.

Even though I'm no longer a holder, I hope I'm wrong. The community was doing genuinely good things when the currency had value. Now they just parrot stupid shit while their currency is going through one of its toughest trials.

>> No.359276

Cryptocurrencies should be about community but community never made a real difference as DOGE has shown. The last bubble was made by pump and dump, the thousands of people on reddit never did something that made DOGE worth more, otherwise it wouldn't have dropped that far. Most of the price increase was artificial.
If it were about community LTC would be completely dead now since LTC never had a big community to begin with. There were no charities, no tipping, the only thing LTC got going for it was "the first altcoin!!!1" and scrypt. I remember a few months ago when everyone was parroting how LTC died.

The one thing everybody seems to forget is that there are a lot of big fish trading cryptos. It's a traders wet dream because there are no regulations, nothing that would stop pump and dump if you just have enough cash. Get your heads out of your asses and stop thinking cryptos are still about being free from banking regulations, about community or an idea. It should be, but the actual state of cryptos is pretty damn far away from that. Most of us are being played. It's about how many idiots you can control with the market. Wolong was dumb enough to make his actions public so don't think he is the only one trying to play this game.

However, unlike reddit, we still get people in the thread to yell at us to pull us back to reality. If a naysayer were to post on reddit, they would be down voted to the point where you would never see their post. As long as some level of critique remains, I think it will hold us from spiraling into the doge mess (at least, this is what I hope). Thank you for being a critic.

I think it's good to treat critics and admirers the same, and that's why I prefer 4chan.

"PoS: Still under consideration long term, but we'd much rather see the price stabilise high enough that we can sustain PoW, than incur the risk of moving. Also security concerns stemming from PoS meaning that coins have to be kept in hot wallets (as opposed to in paper wallets or similar. I'd hope it's clear why we have security concerns in light of issues such as DogeVault (no, I haven't heard anything more in weeks either)."

So whats up with this 'proof of stake' concept?

Say you have 5mil PND, and now youre wallet mining 500 every hour or so.

Say you buy 50mil PND from exchange, so now you're mining 5,000 every hour?

Also, I hear there's a 3 day waiting period, or proof before this starts? If you put a massive amount of coins in your wallet, it wont be affected right away?

Thanks in advance.

They haven't started passing out the Kool-Aid just yet, but Jonestown isn't as upbeat as it once was. Did they really think they could maintain value with a reward system strapped to a rocket and (former) devs dragging their feet?

Shit will probably hit the fan after the next reward halving. They are pushing what 38 Gh/s? They are approaching troll territory in terms of a 51%.

You could offer a large farm or setup a nefarious multipool with a .003 BTC per day per 1 Mh/s and be the highest paying Scrypt pool out there.

(.003 BTC * 1000 Mh/s * 38 Gh/s * $640 (current Bitcoin value)) / 24 hrs = $3040 /hr to 51% the coin.

Few months .0015 BTC per 1 Mh/s would be generous and their hash rate will likely fall further.

If you're still around, I have some background with compulsive gambling, but limited to here in Italy.
Italy is has the fastest growing gambling market, and is currently 2nd or 3rd in the world, can't remember.
There are big, huge profits to be made in gambling - by the slot producers. They're so rich that theyll just corrupt the politicians and lower the taxes and let them make more games.

Game addiction is serious business in Italy, with almost ONE MILLION addicted, on a population of 60M, and new addicts flowing every month.
It's very much not unlike heroin addiction: While the medium is different, and more "socially acceptable", the consequences are pretty much the same: borken buget, depression, broken families, depts, no-way-out mindset.

It's really hard to get out once you're inside the spiral. Not all games are the same but the most important risk factors are: instantaneity (it's not like a lottery where you wait a week before the result, but the result comes within seconds) and anonimity (online is the worst for this). Also the people that fall for it most often are 30s and 40s men, but there are lots of women too, and the age is lowering, with the first gambling experience being had as low as 12 years old.

As with every other addiction, there's no easy way out. The most logical thing you can do is just stop. There are no simple tricks like "I'll just do some" as it will just suck you in. If you recognize that you have a weakness for this, just don't feed it, it'll outgrow you (that's the definition of weakness). Generally one of the problems with addicts is that they don't akknowledge their weknesses. Don't be that guy.

I'm posting this as a heads up / courtesy to all of you.

I just sold 105m on Mintpal's BTC exchange because I need cash.

Consequently, I crushed on the buy orders @ 2 satoshi.

I didn't want to do this, but unfortunately I had to. I bought a shit ton of PND when it was still in the LTC market, and as it turns out, I bought more than I should have. I got overzealous and now I have to sell some of it, even when it's the last thing that I want to do.

Don't freak out! It's just one idiot who got way too excited about PND and fucked up his crypto to real-life finance ratio.

Sorry! I love you guys. Whoever bought at 2 satoshi got a great price. For that... you're welcome :/
