You make money (bitcoin) by trading altcoins.

Crypto is online monopoly money. You buy crypto and hold it. When other people buy crypto, it's value goes up. Then you could sell for a profit or keep holding. More and more people need to keep buy it in order to keep its value up, just like a pyramid scheme.
