Is investing 15 grand in mutual funds a bad idea? Plan on having them in there for 3-5 years potentially more. My family broker was gonna do it for me. Either that or I can invest in individual stocks but I'm not that much of a gambling man to want to lose all my money. If I was trusted to do it alone I'd have no money left

3-5 years isn't quite a long enough time to guarantee "yeah, brah, you'll come out ahead" but the odds are decent.

If you don't need the cash for emergencies, will hold the entire time, and won't sell during a bear market, mutual funds are a good pick. VTSAX or something.
