Now that BTC segwit activated, what is the incentive to use LTC anymore? LTC used to brag about Segwit and LN but now what makes it worth using?

Charlie is acting like BTC segwit is a huge gain for LTC on twitter but I don't understand why.

>> No.3187576

I think it's because you can make transactions between the LTC blockchain and the BTC one without going through exchanges with LN

Cheap tranny fees. Iota will be the winner in 10 years, but ltc still has its purpose

Atomic swaps + LN

>Another benefit is atomic cross-chain transactions via LN. Two users can trade BTC and LTC instantaneous and without risk. Efficient decentralized exchanges are now possible. Or what if a merchant accepts only BTC but you only have LTC. You can now pay LTC and exchange them instantly through a LN exchange node and send BTC to the merchant. That’s basically decentralized ShapeShift. One last thing I thought of recently is the ability to balance lopsided payment channels on both lightning networks. There are probably millions of other cool things that SegWit and LN open up that we have yet scratched the surface of.

atomic swaps, that is indeed how lightning works
the real question is WHY you would even do that with litecoin aside from speculation now
what is litecoins USE case?
Personally I don't believe it has one. If it does not remove itself from this ridiculous path of being a carbon copy of bitcoin, and it's futile "silver to gold" comparison when bitcoin can be split into whatever size you want, then litecoin WILL die.

LTC is still 4x faster (2.5min blocks) than BTC, and due to the 4x coin supply and lower price, will still have cheaper tx fees even though both have SegWit.

Atomic swaps + LN are also cool for the future of both

LN is a fucking disaster. Some people estimate that it will cost up to 10k monthly to get the subscription

I like what you say.
Yeah you can exchange via ln node now instead of needing a middle man service, but like, what would I even be doing with litecoin at this point anyway? Seems kinda gimmicky.

UNLESS, if btc for example is congested and backlogged, it could take use of LTC chain to push backlogged trannies through with a small fee or something

No way man
LTC opens the door for even SMALLER Satoshi decimals. The Day BTC = 1 lambo is when LTC = 1 Satoshi

It absolutely functiona perfectly fine as the silver/change of BTC

But didn't you see the moon today goy?
All the goyim came together and instantly bought out million dollar blockades over the course of a single hour! They were even so kind as to combine their funds to do it in single purchases!
Clearly this is a sign of great support, and look at all those Korean transactions!

You should buy all the LTC that we've boug- I-I mean that the people bought because it's going to moon even further!
