What's the best configuration for storing Ethereum?

What's the difference bw Ethereum Wallet and Mist, and how would you use Parity with these?

I've tried installing Eth Wallet and it seems to work alright, but updating blocks always takes forever and I'm worried about CPU and HDD consumption long-term. Any lighter alternatives like Electrum for Bitcoin?

from what I know, Mist downloads the whole blockchain, it takes some time and space

use myetherwallet, you don't have to download anything, all you need is your logging info
