What are your expenses and where do you live?

55k a year isn't awful for someone without a GED. It's actually damn good.

Expenses are $1200/month for rent, all utilities, gas, food, etc.

I live in Rhode Island

That's damn good in your position.

I mean unless you thought you were going to be a millionaire kek.

how is the hotel business? is it worth getting into at an entry level position?

So you have about 40k in disposable income?

Save for a while until you get a sizable downpayment for a house along with a few months mortgage. You can start building equity instead of paying rent and never seeing that money again.

Learn to invest and do some of that. Really basic shit here. Having 40k at the end of the year after expenses are paid is pretty much easy mode.

If you work hard and are smart, you can advance really fast.

I've been in this industry for 3 years.

For front desk clerks? Pretty much anything with customer service or professional experience and no criminal record.

Having a good interview is the main thing.

It's an entry level job ($9-$11 an hour depending on where you are) so it's not like the requirements are very high.

Night auditors make a bit more and it's a pretty easy job if you want to go that route.

Also there are a ton of other jobs in hotels, but other than concierge, front desk and sales you're pretty much just line level fodder
