Kaiji is THE definition of the true bizlet. Naive, inconvievable, fall for every trap, revels in the "we're all gona make it" dream. Only caveat is that the main character actually makes it but most people who try in crypto don't. It exposes the true gambler's dilema, damned if you do, damned if you don't. Some anons been promoting kakegurui but that's just a fiction novelty really.

In the anime and the manga the stakes get increasingly higher, he starts staking a couple million yens and by the end of the manga the fucking dude is staking 200million yens (1.9 million dollars) in single One-Poker (a variation of the real poker game) hands.

I think it relates with biz because he is a gamble junkie who is also a poorfag and just straight trash.

1. The show takes place in the 1980's so 1 million USD would've been worth a lot more
2. Kaiji is poor and unemployed, so $1,000,000 would be life changing
3. A theme of the anime is that the rich like to step on poorfags like Kaiji and the money Kaiji would gamble his life for is pocket change to them
So it's actually the perfect /biz/ anime, with the Bogdanoffs as the antagonists.

This is what makes the writing so fucking good. The game doesn't need to be complicated for some big brain fuckery to go on. There's always so many layers of strategy, psychology and emotion to explore from a writing perspective that a complicated game would probably detract from a story that's really supposed to be more about thrill than it is about being "smart". You're meant to relate to Kaiji and his experience, so if you're taking too much time to figure out the rule set then it's going to detract from feeling his highs and lows.

If you're willing to learn to play a game just to watch another great Fukumoto show then Akagi is fucking awesome. He's the man everyone on /biz/ wants to be; cool, confident, always wins, never cracks. Kaiji is a reflection of you, Akagi is who you want to be.
