Thing is they can just say "We are wiping all debt owed to other counties and debts owed to the US." The world wont dont shit because most other nations see this as an easy out and will do the same.
Shit will be messed up for a year and we'll be back to normal.

never. it'll probably moon during the next currency crisis or liquidity crisis.
but the long term trend is finding another global reserve currency or multi-reserve currency. de-dollarization, whatever you want to call it.
Dollar is 60% of global reserves currently, yuan is 10%.

https://rumble.com/vbojf1-cp-expert-opening-up-financial-sector-as-goodwill-to-biden-as-we-cant-fix-t.html
watch this video, china is upcoming up its stock markets to the west. probably potential for the next great bubble after the current market cycle plays out. that creates a natural demand for the yuan, it won't be a global reserve currency but it can go from 10% to 20% in the next 10 years. Then there's other things like SDRs being rebalanced and other currencies that can play a part.

oh yea the video mentions decoupling as well; china's already getting spoiled and moving slowly to a post-industrial, services economy. so they will be consumers buying stuff from vietnam, mexico, india, whereever the labor is moving too.
The US not being the global reserve currency means they don't have to run trade deficits anymore and produce things, whatever they are. The US will be a proper trading partner with China and other countries now rather than be a net importer. The Fed will also be able to control the domestic economy a lot tighter without adverse consequences to the global economy if the US is no longer the reserve currency. So there's a lot of benefits to moving away from the dollar.

Weirdly the tokenization of central bank currencies along with universal basic income will provide at least 10 years more life to the current debt system. The fine grain of money velocity that a CBDC gives to the fed is immeasurably beneficial to keeping the old system running for longer than anyone would expect. Combine that with near frictionless swaps and settlement of currencies across borders and you have a recipe for world government through fine grain monetary policy.

TL;DR sell everything else and buy XRP

EU, Russia, China all have de-dollarization plans. You're going to attack your ally too? Dumb as shit. Biden will grumble but the US is going along with it because they are a lot of benefits to reducing the USD as the global reserve currency.
USD will retain its value, but the open secret is the US government doesn't even want to be the primary global reserve currency anymore.
