Have you ever owned (or even rented) a high-end sports car/super car?

What was the experience like?

Also post your 'made it' car.

I own a molded focus st that is pretty fast, but I've also done race school and driven Ferraris.

I live with my parents and drive pic related. It cost me $25,000 total. I have no savings and I borrowed the $25,000 because I have a stable history as a manager in home depot. It has no air ducts for defrosting the windshield. But at least I made it.

Looking to buy my first legit high end sports car, but I've rented exotic/supercars for years since I travel a lot for work and I'm an autistic petrolhead.

Spend the extra coin and rent from legit companies like Royalty Exotics in Vegas. There's so many shady exotic car rental spots out there that are scams don't even bother. I have horror stories for days.

DONT BE A CHEAP FAGGOT, BUY THE FUCKING INSURANCE. It really saves your ass. Anything can happen from jealous fags vandalizing it, to people going out of their way to try to cause accidents with you. People damage the car sitting on it for social media, joggers steal centercaps etc.

Go to legit businesses and purchase the insurance. If anything happens its on you if not.

If you're in the states, you 100% need the insurance. I've personally had
>Valets parked the car and given it back with a door ding
>Rented a RR Ghost and 3 center caps were stolen in about half an hour
>Vegas strip and the freeway are notorious for insurance fraud. People will brake check and swerve close to you constantly.
>charged for scratches due to zoomers and jogger sheeboons sitting on the car and scratching it with their jeans/purse/etc

Yes I used to travel to Japan a lot for work. So me and some friends rented a Lamborghini Huracan Avio and Nissan GTR Nismo. The Lamborghini was stupid fun and loud and everything I ever wanted. The GTR you need to be a very good driver and on a track to get the most out of it.

I paid about $500 for 2 hours with both cars. While it was expensive, I got to take a few friends ripping through Tokyo on a warm fall day and it was easily one of the best experiences (and photo ops) of my life. It only made me want to buy a Huracan even more.

Also I got 24 hours to drive a 2017 NSX around my state for work. Took it to visit family and friends and do some launches in it. Definitely turns heads. Every gas station people came up for pictures or to ask what it was since it was brand new at the time. You get a lot of attention in these cars, and they're mega fun-- acceleration like you can't imagine. I had to warn my parents to put their head on the headrest before a launch to avoid throwing them back too fast.

It's fun anon, you should get one. Let me know if you want pics

Drove some BMW with a 12 cylinder engine to my uncle's lot when he flipped cars. It wasn't much better than driving some standard car desu, probably costs 10x more too. I wouldn't waste the money. I've also driven a VW golf turbo and it was the fastest, best handling thing I've ever driven. The hot hatch thing is not a meme, those things go fast. I'm sure the BMW would win in a longer race but the golf got up to speed ridiculously quick.

I can barely tell the difference between a BMW and VW other than the bloated body frames and higher repair costs.

It's funny that BMW owners always mention repair costs. You WILL have to repair it. My parents are big BMW snobs and their cars are the only cars I've ever seen break. Random shit like the electric windows to major shit like the transmission needing serious work. A window motor was $800 and the car had to be left in the shop overnight, and thats after the months long wait to import the part. It's not a viable car to drive here unfortunately and they have serious reliability issues. Between their 2 vehicles I can note like 6 repairs that have been needed over the past 8 years. My Toyota is 7 years old and has needed 0 repairs other than an overtightened transmission fluid pan gasket that was done on purpose by a swanky oil shop who wanted me to come back in to fix a leak they caused by overtightening the screws.

Ring times are the benchmark for supercars and sports cars. I didn’t say I’m for or against it, I’m just stating facts.

>Retard celebrites
Those influencers/celebrities drive sheep to hype up and buy the product. Why do you think Lambos and G-Wagons are the most filmed, rapped about, talked about, etc cars?

Ring times as well as top speed times ABSOLUTELY factor into hype and buys 100%. Look at the SSC debacle and how many rich fags bought into an allocation when they claimed their top speed run and how many canceled right away after it was debunked.

Everyone ran out to buy GT2 and GT3RS as well after their ring times and was hoarding the shit out of them. Porsche was legit scalping people for their last dime off this.

People were buying SVJs based on the lap time before Lambo ruined their own market and kept pumping them out. To say lap times have 0 impact on marketing and purchases is ludicrous. Just utter crazy talk. You can Google plenty of material to support how big of an impact it has.

I don't think arguing about F1 is irrelevant, because it gives them insight into other types of racing. But I agree the V6 engine is fucking boring.

Also Scuderia Ferrari has other racing teams that race the Nurburgring so they have all the telemetry, etc. they need to challenge the top lap times.

I would love to see them try to beat the incredible Porsche time but it'd be extremely hard. That Porsche is fucking amazing.
The road-legal time I think they could do easily.

Not particularly high end and definitely not a supercar but it will outrun many of them, especially the ones from the same era.
The experience of a higher power car with awd is something else, you just point it and go.

You watch too much DDE. 1200hp and daily driver don’t belong in the same sentence. Your car will be in the shop bi weekly. You should look into the headache people have that get TT Lambs and R8 from leading shops like UGR and Sheepey Race. They always shit the bed.

You can’t have that much power and daily drive it expecting it to be reliable.
