NFTs are booming in collectors sector because you don't need logic for why someone wants something. Shit is like Funko pops, I think they're ugly and stupid as fuck but there are people who love them and thus spend massive amounts of money collecting them even though it does absolutely nothing other than fill some space.
Maybe someone just wants "ownership" of a limited and verified officially by NBA basketball clip of their favorite player and have it in their NFT portfolio to say they have something that no one else can officially, supported by NBA, say they have.

Just got the $14 pack and looks like I have a moment worth probably $300 and another for at least $400. Easiest gains I've ever made for something that is completely useless outside of just saying you "own" it.

So is your diamond or house worth more because it has an some token on a blockchain that is suppose to keep track of who owns it? What is the investment angle here?

With digital art / collectables, sure you make a lot initially, but subsequent sales are all second market, and if you want to sell more you dilute the market. You already see it with the NBA plays, the serial number having nice digits means more than the actual "play" attached to it. Eventually, they will run out of dubs to sell.

They'll address the broader market price issues in Sorare as they expand supply across all teams, but if you think the cards for the most popular clubs like PSG or Juventus are expensive right now... just wait til they start tying in benefits for owning a card for a player/club.

>So is your diamond or house worth more because it has an some token on a blockchain that is suppose to keep track of who owns it? What is the investment angle here?

It's the fact that real world things are going to be made crypto that is itself valuable. Creating a truly digital economy and marketplace so actual things can pass ownership from person to person is the primary reason to be hyped. At the end of the day, it's still a diamond or a house, but being ingrained into the crypto network opens up a lot of neat opportunities.

So I have a NFT, that proofs that I own a car. I lose my private wallet key, what now?

Doesn’t end hete with Top Shot. By next year fans will be buying NFT tickets to watch games virtually from locations inside the stadium and courtside. The whole tech going mainstream is in it’s absolute infancy.

You can choose both options. There's already a football project named Sorare but it's a bit different (for example, you can play "matches" with your team which consists of player cards and card stats are actually affected by IRL player performance)

I'd buy this shit if the nft included its copyright, as in giving me the right to use the 'moment' any way I please, and being paid every time anyone else uses it commercially.

Is there anything else like nbatopshots?

SOUL has NFTs soon

Cool, it's like digital baseball cards.
Soon pokemon cards will be opened on stream.
Think loot boxes/gacha machines that poop out digital booster packs and streamers open them on stream. Instead of having to hypthetically find a MSRP it actually has a hard price assigned to it.
Also imagine the potential for NFTs if any of those Vtubers start running their own versions.
You might not have heard of it because you think its degenerate but Vtubers are the most tipped influencers in the world.

F1 Delta Time, Sorare (not exactly the same but those are licensed too)

How can anybody realistically say NFTs have a future on ETH?

Yeah I want to sell trading cards for $5 each, what's the listing fee? $37? Sure sounds good.
