Been in residential construction forever. My company was working for about 20 small general contractors in 2007-2008. All but 2 lost everything including shirt on their back. Sovereigns have very low premium somehow. Cost per ounce is comparable to bullion 1oz coins. They are even cheaper than Krugs.
Fractional gold is popular mostly in Europe because it's VAT free and silver isn't. Even with high premium you get more metal for your buck.
