April 15th inches closer and closer.

You have already filed your return, yes?

Making sure to mention every single crypto-crypto trade, yes?

Don't try to cheat Uncle Sam out of his fair share, anon!

Made so much money in staking but I don’t want to report it due to the headache of calculating all that shit fuck no. I would rather pay when I cash it out those staking gains. Am I about to get jewed biz.

>> No.30252591

>>30252453
I don't think, unless you withdrew any staking rewards, those funds are not yet under your control, so how would you be expected to report that as a gain?

I don't have to worry about it until next year, but I'll do what I always do, import my wallets and any exchanges I used into token tax and call it a day.

Funny because I lost all my gains + a net loss of $2999.99 in a weird scam with monero, sent it to the wrong wallet. Whoopsie oh well, easy come easy go :)

>> No.30252779

>>30252591
I can withdraw them anytime and send them to coinbase and withdraw to my bank account anytime. I consulted with my tax preparer already and apparently staking gains will be taxed as income if left untouched and taxed as capital gains tax once I withdraw to my bank account. Basically it gets taxed twice which is FUCKED UP. Fucking IRS. I plan to just report them as CGT as I withdraw them to my bank account. Bad idea?

Yeah and I regret it because I forgot about stimmy checks. I made 20k in 2019 and 95k in 2020. Turns out they go with your most recent return for eligibility. I live in CA so I’m missing out on the $600 Newsom-bucks too.

Hey to my younger friends that might not be so knowledgeable. If you think the IRS doesn't know about your shit, they do. So the prudent thing is, take out whatever you owe for income tax and hold it on the side. That way you won't get fucked later.

Take it from someone who sold high and then sold low and had the IRS come after them for gains they no longer had. It's much nicer when you still have the gains.

My 2 cents.. Demanding people keep track of crypto to crypto transactions of unrealized gains is not only absurd it's completely unsustainable. Most people aren't going to bother with it, and trying to audit the thousands of trades done by millions of people seems next to impossible. Unless you're getting into 7fig territory I honestly wouldn't worry too much. Trying to tax unrealized gains is fucking retarded
