I used to be like you guys three years ago. Easily brainwashed by false prophets about le epic economy will collapse and gold and silver will save us if you just buy my book and gold/silver coins from this dealer.

I’ve done a lot of research on coins, money, ancient economies and the truth is that since the beginning of the Neolithic revolution society functioned with credit and debt and that gold and silver being money is entirely fictional. Most people never used gold or silver, gold and silver were used to pay mercenaries or in international trade. Even aristocrats didn’t deal with it most of the time because their power came from land ownership and extracting rent in the form of cash crops or toil among other things, very few tenants actually paid in gold or silver. You guys need to stop being brainwashed, Gold and silver are practically worthless and it’s better to stuff your mattress with Benjamin’s or bin ladens (€500 bills) then buying precious metals because when we transfer over to central bank digital coin they’ll be worth more in a redeemed amount than gold or silver.

Gold/Silver was kept in highly defended capitals which contained a loyal standing army usually the royal guard to the leader. They handed out Silver/Gold when hiring Mercenaries or paying small (but highly valuable) amounts to local polis when they were rewarded for expenditures or for providing a shit load more food/soldiers than they were supposed to.
