Its absolutely unequivocally over lad, im sorry you have only just realised this. Only going to get worse once the furlough money tap turns off. Yeah sorry man. We live in a time when the majority of the population is doomed to rent-faggery. A lot of people simply don't earn enough to buy. Personally I'm borderline, but I take one look at the price and just lol. Waaay too expensive. And ask yourself a question, what would a bank do, if there is a crash? Even if you've paid every payment, on time, and still have a job?

They'd fuck you, and sell from under you. Then fuck you again. All of them. That is an unacceptable risk, to me. And landlord Chads may find, at some point, this is exactly what goes down. I don't hate on all landlords, some do their best, but some deserve the rope.

It's a fantastic business idea. Like a car, you don't want a house where others have pissed and shitted and cummed in, that's not very impressive to your fellow sales reps at the regional double glazing firm, so to roll your new car and new house into one package where Audi and Gymshark actually own the house, and then you trade in your house for a new house and a new car. Only immigrants and the Welsh are poor and trashy enough to drive a used car or live in a used house anyway.

Issue is this is Birmingham. That's enough to put down for a mortgage somewhere but is there any point if I'm not planning on staying for more than 2-3 years? I'm 26 and don't want to spend the rest of my life here frankly but feel if I can get onto the housing ladder, I should.

But last time prices recovered to pre crash levels within 3 years. Take out a 5,7 or 10 year mortgage and you're set.
I don't want to hear stupid shit like
> Not going to feed the system, owning is cucking yourself.
You have 3 options. You either live in mums spare room, rent or own.
If you choose option. 1 you're a loser and are beyond help, if you choose rent you're literally paying someone else's mortgage.
Also for what it's worth interest rates are so low, take out the longest largest mortgage you can and stick the extra in stocks / crypto and you're winning. 1.5% interest Vs untold gains.
God speed

As long as I have enough to do what I want when I want for the time being, and investing in high risk/high reward stuff now, I dont see any issue. The way I see it, in a few years i'll nearly have doubled my salary and can start making real strides towards those long term things like houses and family stuff, but right now why would I hamstring the prime years of my life to pinch pennies I'll have in excess in a few years anyway. Not sure I can agree really. it was a great investment, but not now. 1,000,000 people left London alone in the pandemic, and they're estimating 1-1.5m people will leave the UK entirely once all this is said and done (back to their own countries etc.). I know several big construction players are paving the way for hundreds of thousands of new houses in the next few years, and just down the road from me there are over 2,500 flats being built - they're flying up. Sooner or later, supply is going to start outstripping demand. Furlough ending in September could potentially cause a snowball effect too if mass-unemployment and redundancies ensue, which will lead to defaults.

We haven't felt the brunt of the economic impact from COVID yet, but we will over the coming years. I'm expecting a 25-30% price drop of average house prices in the UK before it picks back up again once this next artificial pump is over.

I have £10k in the bank, £100k in an ISA and £40k in crypto. I can get a house right now if I wanted, but there's no point. I'm twenty fucking five and fully intend to travel the world, work in different places and LIVE in different places. Can't do that in a new build deanobox and a financed A4 to fit in with the jones's. House prices will drop, it's just a matter of time. In that time, my salary will double, investments will double/triple and my partner will be on a good salary too. Why do I need to rush into living in a shitty house when I'm more than comfortable in my luxury apartment I'm renting for dirt cheap prices thanks to the London exodus?

Ex warsaw pact countries that joined EU are better places to live now than UK. Kek Romanian and polish cleaners dont have any reason to go uk anymore. They can literally buy huge house for less than 100k€ in their home while english are fucked with their shitty weather and housing. These ex commie states are also only getting richer and better, providing better life for their people while uk is just falling, give it a decade and they have higher hdi and gdp than uk.
