Ah, I don't follow most of the /pmg/ threads so that must have been said in one of the threads I didn't see. I do wonder if all of the ammunition is being bought up by regular people here. It's been nearly a year since the real panic buying of ammunition begun and there's still a shortage. I can't imagine every new gun owner buying 10,000 rounds of ammunition. As for the industry its a lot like oil and gas. I am on week two of my two weeks on two weeks off. right now, than on monday its back down the hole. In the summer I do my own exploration work, some winters I work others I dont depending on if positions are available. At Osisko's BGM were were running at half power due to awaiting permit finalization for the full mine start up and a lack of trained professionals. We lost two guys a month ago for busting equipment so were short handed. We usually have two shut down periods, freeze up and spring thaw, where everything shuts down waiting for things to dry out.

That's my secret tech : i focus on auctions ending up either very early in the morning or very late in the night, when the boomies are still asleep.
That's how i landed all my below spot deals. If you try to buy auctions ending up around 5-7 pm you will get swarmed with angry boombooms who want their shinies and pay a fuck ton.

If you have a ton of ammunition (5,000, 10,000, or whatever gun aficionados believe is a lot of rounds) and are sitting on at least a 2x capital gain, it might be worthwhile to sell a portion of your ammunition just to lock in those gains. If you buy stocks, though, just be aware that you could suffer a loss or even get wiped out whereas the ammunition will always be a physical possession of yours no matter how low the price gets.

I just can't imagine ammunition prices going a lot higher because it's already expensive enough that even people with a fair amount of ammunition are shooting fewer rounds at the ranges and reducing the frequency they visit the ranges. At a high enough price, you'd think that the ammunition manufacturers would have an incentive to expand production facilities.

I subscribe to various economic forecasts and they are under the impression that we are forming a bottom in the PMs market that started August last year. After that, they believe a new leg up will begin. I'm not sure if junior mining stocks are the best play, though, from a risk-reward perspective. I am personally looking for an entry point to my existing positions in Hecla, Pan American Silver, Pretium, and Alamos Gold. I'm also considering re-opening a position in New Gold after previous management screwed me hard.

Wow, that's a pretty hefty gain. If I were you and had more than enough rounds, I'd probably sell a portion to lock in those gains. I'm seeing about $1/round for good-quality 5.56 rounds and I get the sense that ammunition is slowly becoming more available as an on-line store I check every now and then has had inventory for a few weeks now although they put a hard limit on the quantity one can buy.

I'm kind of eating it on Alamos since I bought it a month or two ago. Pan American has been my biggest gainer but I bought it in 2015 or 2016 when all of the mining stocks were dirt cheap. I suspect that when the PMs bull market resumes, Hecla, Pretium, and Alamos should perform better than Pan American Silver. Pretium in particular seems to have really good properties that are very rich in gold.
