Because of it's decentralized nature, and giving more power to the people, creating new blockchain coins and tokens is going to be easy. If crypto wants to become a real currency that people can use, it's going to need more centralization and strict rules otherwise pump and dumps will still be a thing.

It requires huge amounts of energy in the middle of an economic and climate crises, it makes all the gpus expensive, which could be used for things like AI research into solving diseases or even the next big indie video game, it seems to have rewarded criminals and drug addicts who were early adopters, its actual utility is hard to explain and murky, it doesn't seem to make the people who are getting rich any happier, it creates a further abstraction away from actual tangible value, you have to exchange the crypto points into fiat points, but when do you actually gain things like food, shelter, clothing, or even work? It seems to fund political extremism, you can't buy anything with it really, it attracts scam artists who have stolen millions of dollars multiple times, it makes me super jealous that I didn't get in when it was worth only pennies. It's the perfect metaphor for our society.

That being said, I could probably make a similar list of positives.
