That is exactly why you diversify you fucking midwit. Even with all this in mind, altcoins STILL outperform BTC as a whole.

Now of course you shouldn't have tons of coins if gas fees are fucking you over, but most low-mid caps can be found on centralized exchanges where fees are percentage based so it literally doesn't fucking matter how many holdings you have.

So investing in every single altcoin one year ago, and prefectly staking etc. everyone of them...you would've outperformed btc by 5%. 5% isn't going to matter to a 5 figure portfolio. But the fact is someone with $5k in crypto is unable to buy enough coins to do this, and they don't have enough time to manage it, and if they bought every coin in top 100 in 2019, they wouldve bled stats as new coins overtook old coins. You are an ideologue, and thats okay. Its just bad advice for poorfags.

Yes, a literal random sample of alt-coins beats out BTC, that is exactly my point you moron. Even if you buy into completely random garbage, you will STILL outperform BTC.

There is nothing to fucking manage, either invest in long-term holds or take profits once alt-season is over. Buying alt-coins doesn't necessarily mean you are buying them all on uniswap paying out the ass on gas fees.

The reason I went all-in on altcoins this year is because I kept a list of all the projects I would have invested into in mid 2019, and with the exception of one of the five, they are all up anywhere from 5-25x. I lost out big-time by just holding BTC/ETH/LINK. This is especially true in the crypto space because many low-mid caps are on few major exchanges and moon (regardless of fundamentals) once they are listed on new exchanges.

What part of A LITERAL RANDOM SAMPLE OF ALT-COINS WILL OUTPERFORM BTC do you not understand? The research is only to edge out the average by spending some time to buy undervalued projects with good fundamentals.

You diversify for the exact reason to NOT lose 50% of your investment. This idea that you should only have 1-2 holdings is how you actually DO lose a massive chunk of your portfolio because you are basically gambling on your holding to perform and are fucked if it doesn't. Of course, choosing something like BTC is safer than choosing one random alt-coin but a) people aren't saying this, they are just saying to have a low number of holdings and b) it will average lower returns than alt-coins.

The issue is not with what you are holding in most cases, it's a) not being diversified enough to reduce variance and risk b) trying to time the market/swinging and c) panic selling.

I am just against this idea that "larger portfolio = diversify while smaller portfolio = yolo gamble" because it's an unhealthy degenerate mindset, and the only reason why diversification would be worse for a smaller portfolio is if you are paying out the ass on gas fees (and most low-mid altcoins are on CEX where fees are percentage based).

I am not going to respond to anything further because you fundamentally don't understand what I am saying and we are just going in circles. I am not giving financial advice to anyone or telling anyone what they should do; I am simply clarifying what diversification of a portfolio is and why it is time-tested and works.

60% correlation means you aren't reducing risk but hiding it. You diversify to protect your assets. And alt coins are not the diversification required, would be better to buy index funds, and maybe some REITs to lock in your gains.
Your refusal to engage with the ideas presented means you know, in the back of your mind, buying 4 random altcoins is shit advice for someone with $5000 to their name.

All the correlation shows is that on a very macro level that when the market is up, alts are up and vice versa.

Diversifying across alt-coins is essentially creating a crypto index fund, which is more risky but has substantially higher returns on average than a stock index fund. If you do your own research, you can potentially even get much higher returns, but even at the most basic level (fully randomized selection), you are beating BTC on average.

If I lost my entire portfolio and only had 5k to my name, then yes I would put that all-in altcoins. If I hadn't done any research, I would do brief research or choose 10 random alt-coins that are on a CEX with percentage based fees. Of course you should always DYOR and not invest what you can't afford to lose, I just want to clarify this misinformation regarding diversification.

It doesn't. That's what alt indexes are and none of them do. You haven't defined any of your parameters but still think you're saying something which just means you're retarded.
If you choose "a random sample" of altcoins today and traced the price back you would get a different result than any alt index including non-random carefully picked ones.

You guys are fucking idiots.
You’ve been pumping your cash into shitcoins for years now. I bought BTC late 2018, now look.

You will probably just ignore this but I’m giving you the best advice ever. Just buy Bitcoin and hold it for a few years.
The only exception is Ethereum, because that clearly has a big future.
All these other shitcoins? What the fuck is their purpose? They are just one big pump and dump.

Good luck

I think Bitcoin right now is unironically a bad investment if you can't afford to lose the money. Reputable altcoins are a better hedge for long term growth. This might seem counterintuitive but I believe Bitcoin is due for a really big correction before it goes to 100k so if you buy in now as a poorfag you'll probably halve your money for at least a couple of years before it doubles. It's just not worth it since the returns are so small, yet the loss is very great to a poorfag.

Altcoins are riskier but even if the whole market crashes, you can still buy way more and if you pick good ones they will grow anyway in the mid to long term.

I want to start buying BTC but I'm waiting for a better dip than this because we're still not far from the top.

If you want to be conservative and not take a massive risk as a poorfag at least buy Ethereum and ADA not Buttcoin.

I started with $5k in 2017. Made it to 6 figure hell that run but had a bad exit strategy. Went back to 5 figure hell and am hoping to make it to 6 figure hell again by the end of this run. I made it by shitcoin flipping, which I seem to be ok at, but I ended up losing satoshi because I held shitcoins through the end of the bull and gave up. That cost me 3 BTC fren. If you know you suck at flipping shitcoins, that anon is right. Just hold and continue to invest your lunch money through the bear market. Things like staking and LPs that exist this bull run, make it a great strategy. If you want to get into the shitcoin flipping game, you can make money. Never forget that your goal is to get more BTC with it though excluding rare opportunities like ETH or LINK. Have several exit strategies and never forget that BTC is king. I'm not sure what the methodology is for that chart and I can't find it, but since it includes dead coins (as clearly visible in the chart) and because it is such a random number, it is likely including anything that ever reached top 1000 (or some similar rank) over that period of time. There are numerous other metrics that track alt-coins, and they consistently outpace BTC as a whole (whether you do top 100, top 500, top 1000, 2000, whatever).

I was never talking about ultra micro-caps with sub $1m market cap, I already stated this multiple times, and I have no idea how anyone could ever interpret "low-mid cap, many of which are listed on central exchanges" as meaning absolute shitcoins with 6 or 7 figure marketcaps...

If you're in an altcoin, then when Buttcoin is doing well you might 10x or 100x if it's a good project. You might even see growth when the market is overall down from its present bubble. That's still not a random sample and not reliable. It's only true on some time frames. The longer you make the time frame the worse the alts perform compared to Bitcoin. There are only two altcoin indexes I can easily find on trading view and they fit my experience. That's actual real life data about your specific claims and how profitable your random strategy would be. The actual real life data says since the start of the index it gained around 50% of what BTC gained. Your fantasies are irrelevant.

Poorfags dont have money but they do have time to leverage. He can spend his time doing research and unearthing a fundamentally solid project that is way undervalued in 500-900 rank range. To hedge the risk of losing it all he can probably split it into 2 and invest half each.
Losing all $1k if both of them happened to be a vapourware won’t hurt him because he can probably make back the money eventually but you will gain knowledge on why your research was incorrect. On the flipside if it works he is looking at a 20-100x minimum on investment.
On a top 10-20 coins it will take him multiple bullruns to reach a 20x and 20x on 1k is still 20 fucking k.
