I doubt that land is the perfect asset against inflation. Much to reliant on politics. It might be a good move if you have very good connections to the political class, which Gates definitely has. But for "normal" people, land and especially housing could turn out to be a catastrophic choice in a (hyper-)inflationary scenario. Only worse choice: holding money.
