This is what happens when you become obsessed with just one thing in life and I hope it doesn’t happen to me anytime soon. Lost a lot of respect when he made the opening comment about how bitcoin is more important to him than his company and country. I work for a small start up business and the pride in building something with real people sharing the same vision would never be outweighed by the sense of “immortal power” in how much I own. nah, sounds about right. But $25k is a very high entry when you're buying on debt, only up 2x and most people holding BTC are on average up 5-10x. Especially hard when you've bought the bags of whales selling OTC, and if you can't find another whale or 10 to buy your bags OTC, you can't sell without sending the price extremely low.
This is why I think MSTR directors are bailing out of the company. Saylor has done everything he can to pump the price. He even got Tesla to buy and it's only $50k. But who is going to buy Saylor's bags? Anyone thinking of doing so would have to wonder why he's trying to sell, and demand some kind of discount.
The reality must be they know they can't offload the BTC they bought, and are just going to offload MSTR shares instead, which is why the share price is so low even though BTC recovered.

Currently, you have a lot of people desperate to buy bitcoin because they think the price is going to go up by 360% forever and they'll be poor if they don't buy. well to be honest i looked at the protocol way way before i ever invested in bitcoin. and i didn't put too much money in it until i saw a clear trend of adoption by big money and saw regulatory hostility ebb away.

the other thing i look at is price comparison charts... compare gold to stocks and zoom out you get a flat line. compőare stocks to bitcoin and you get a flat line. you can limit your exposure to bitcoin and thus limit your risk without limiting your literally insane gains.

it's all just basic math really. bitcoin is such an asymmetric bet that you are literally dumb not to take it.

I agree with many of the points you raised. I was very bullish on btc when I started and hope it really is something that will go on to change the world and provide a new payment system free from manipulation. But I fear that it’s already pretty disproportionately owned by a few lucky people that have had the opportunity to purchase it while so much of the world’s population is born into a situation where they will not have the means to Get any btc for years (by then it might be pretty much gone apart from what can be mined) I don’t mean to sound like a socialist fag I actually have great respect for the free market and a libertarian outlook on life as a whole but it’s hard to completely ignore all issues with btc. Do you not think that any other finite crypto could replace btc? Maybe a similar technology but with better energy consumption/faster transactions? The only way BTC holds its value is if crypto actually does take off like you've pointed out and BTC simply remains the gold standard of all other cryptocurrencies. It's not totally unfeasible if you consider that the US dollar is also complete garbage and is still, at least for now, the global reserve currency. Personally, I don't see why crypto would take off anymore. It was cool in the golden age when you could buy drugs with it, just like how the internet was cool when it wasn't so massively regulated and full of normies ruining it. I don't see why that wouldn't happen with crypto. If crypto takes off then why wouldn't national/international bodies simply issue their own currency and force it through, which we all know they could do easily. Although the idea of bartering with crypto is interesting but even in such a case bitcoin is overvalued. Bitcoin will be the bitchute versus whatever official cryptos are pushed through which will be like youtube.

I actually wouldn't be surprised if 58k will forever be the ATH for bitcoin even if it survives well into the future.

Btw the point wasn’t about “muh business” it could have related to anything really (hobby/job/family-etc) just don’t value material wealth over other aspects of life they go hand in hand. If you truly love to do something and can monetise it, you don’t have to chase the money it will come naturally. But you start saying that I care more about the money than how I spend my life getting money and all of a sudden your life has no meaning other than to get more and more and for what? You only live once, find something you are good at and enjoy doing and don’t waste a single moment with the time you have left.

Sure lots of people probably sell but some of the mega whales with other forms of money to live on for the time being, can just wait it out and get (imo grossly) rich and that sounds just as bullshit as our current system desu.

I was thinking the other day but maybe if satoshi decided to (just once) in as fair a way as possible distribute his amount of btc to many impoverished people or a giant charity or something that it could act as an alternative to that *great reset let’s reset all The worlds debt* Plan. Maybe that’s a horrible idea though I wouldn’t know the affect it would have on the btc price

if satoshi ever wants to move his coins without causing mass panic he has to release a plan for it. be it charity or just a slow sell over time if people see a roadmap they will be eager to buy the most prestigious coins in existence.

an other thing satoshi can do is pretend he has a quantum computer and slowly pilfering his own trove. like going backwards a couple of wallet at a time selling slowly. it would cause some panic definitely. but people would get used to it and all crypto would get a post quantum upgrade.
