As for why it pumped prior to the dump, I believe it was because of a small partnership with google cloud? I'm not really sure. I bought it last March after it pumped lol. Tbh I got out of crypto after 2017/18 because I ended up losing money. OGN got me to invest again

so, basically Origin Protocol's main project, initially, was to set up an online decentralized marketplace, specifically to combat the sharing economy and make things better for both buyers and sellers. Easiest corollary would be something like Airbnb, sure you can use airbnb to rent a room from someone, but airbnb.com is gonna take like 15-20% of the rate. Origin would allow this to happen but cut out the middleman of airbnb thus allowing for the seller to get more or all of the rate. Here's something I wrote up for dif thread

OGN was designed to have two main purposes. One purpose is to be used as currency on DShop platform (which can also accept real money and other cryptos). The second main purpose is that it will be used as a governance token for the origin Protocol network. So you'll be able to use OGN to vote on various things, but also and perhaps more importantly, OGN holders will be able to use their tokens to adjudicate disputes that happen on the DShop decentralized marketplace

This is OGNs answer for how you prevent scams and bad behavior on a decentralized system. Example, right now if you were to rent an airbnb, but when you arrive there other people are still there or it's filthy or whatever, you can call airbnb and have them give you a refund. In a decentralized sharing economy, there is no centralized authority to appeal to. So if this happened with Origin the idea is that they could petition the OGN community itself for a refund, and the OGN community would also be able to vote on sanctions for that particular host who didn't hold up his end of the bargain. That is my understanding anyway, in practice I think it will end up being different than how many envision it

Personally I think it will work well for certain applications but not others. I can see the Origin Protocol marketplace taking a chunk out of AirBnbs business, but to be honest I think something like uber or lyft rides haring might be too complex for a decentralized market

Because markets are anti-democracies. When people are greedy and buy up stocks, they create bubbles which inevitably pop. When people are fearful and sell up stocks, they leave a stock undervalued.

Meanwhile, Reddit is designed around e-celebs. People who are smart and make money are the ones who get updoots and karma. In this environment, only the strong survive and the chaff gets dumped. This is the reason why fundamentals even exist. It's because people who made a lot of money told people what to do, and their suggestions became law. At the end of the day, markets are little more than a facade created by people as people determine the price of an asset. You can never predict markets, but you can certainly predict people.

Always do the opposite of what /biz/ says.
