29996918 No.29996918 [Reply] [Original]

Software dev and /biz/ oldfag here who bought the ICO. Let me explain why I think GRT is extremely overvalued.

The best argument for GRT is that there are no competitors.
Who cares if they're not around yet? They don't need to be if the product doesn't have a huge, insurmountable barrier to entry. Simply put, the project is extremely easy to copy. There’s nothing stopping a dex like pancakeswap from forking it to BSC.

I agree that GRT has first mover advantage. But Salesforce is still Salesforce despite being late to the game after Act! or Siebel Sales Handheld. Zoom was founded nearly ten years after Skype, yet the latter is on its last legs. And there are thousands of such examples. Platforms that rely on network effect, conversely, have a much more significant first mover advantage (social media, ecommerce, etc.).

There is inherent value in the chainlink network because of node reputation. GRT doesn't need to establish trust, it just needs to convert data from one format to another. If the library was clientside then you could validate its output yourself.

KEK Absolutely not?? what are you smoking?

Thats a pretty stupid argument considering how many have adopted grt currently and the fact that networks are meaningless against the dollar almighty. Any project can be dethroned because any good enough competitor will dissolve the previously built networks as everyone rushes to receive the benefits of the new cheaper and more superior service. So if were going to talk about hypotheticals we might as well take it to its ultimate end. I fud the shit out of grt but youre going to make people even more bullish with weak fud.

Wow... I've been a huge fan of this project for a really long time OP but what you just said has really stunned me. It's like I finally *understand* something for once. Not only that, but I understand why I always felt a little weird about this project, like it was a scam or something. But the way you put that has really moved me from some weird intuitive suspicion I had to knowing that GRT is a scam beyond a doubt.

This is a GRT thread so many won't be able to do this, but I suggest that everyone who can take a moment to read what OP wrote. It makes a lot of sense because it's true.
>>29997043
You really don't think "The Graph" is easy to copy? Don't you get how conflicting that is? "The Graph" is trying to build out "Web 3," which is a copy of Web 2, which was a copy of Web 1, which was a copy of email, which was a copy of paper mail, which was a copy of courier pigeon mail, which was a copy of talking really loudly to a group of assembled people, which was a copy of talking to just a few people, which was a copy of talking to just one person, which was a copy of talking to yourself, which was a copy of non-verbal thinking, which was a copy of electro-magnetic synapse firing or some ridiculous nonsense and yet you think that "The Graph" is not easy to copy? Copying is the only thing that ever happens. Nothing original has ever been done let alone tried. And you say The Graph is not easy to copy? How can you say that? Also, why would you say something like that even if you thought it? How dare you, actually. How absolutely dare you. You should be apologizing for this right now. Apologize right now.
>>29997070
Wow, this is great news. Somewhat disappointing that you'd participate in a scam yourself but just wonderful to see you got out and probably dunked on someone in this thread who is now without a doubt homeless, living in a cardboard box somewhere. What a great thing to imagine. Some guy who can't read buying your GRT at 2.80 and becoming homeless.

Unironically, I wrote part of the OPs post in a FUD thread last night because I was bored, and I'm kind of turned on that they thought it was good enough to copy. This shit is just way too entertaining. If you're a programmer, then it's so easy to troll convincingly.
