Its the only way they won't ask me what I'm doing on that day. And, if they say no you can easily bring it to HR.
Really, it's the best way of saying 'i don't feel like going to work today'.

I work at a hospital, our sick, vacation and personal days all stack. Depending on the unit you work you actually DO need a mental health day. Best part is anyone under that roof has to strictly abide by HIPPA laws.

So when I call out to use a sick day, they cant quiz me on what it is. They LEGALLY have to say "o-okay anon feel better"

pic related is management when they cant question it but i sound fine on the phone

Mental health days are vacation days by a different name. They don't count differently. But for actually useful knowledge workers reasonable amounts of time off actually lowers burnout and raises productivity. If you can squeeze another 4 years out of a coder before they inevitably lose their minds and suffer no or negligible productivity loses by giving them a few more days off it seems like a good deal, training new people is expensive as fuck.
