Any wagies actually like what they do?
>be me
>make pizza for a living
>coworkers are chill
>boss is cool
>always busy, day goes by fast
>paid lunch break with free meals
>health, dental and vision insurance
>401K with company matching 5%
>direct deposit tips weekly
>10 minute commute
>swing shift, never have to get up early
>flexible schedule, can work as much or as little as I want
>still able to put $1000 into crypto every month
Literally the only reason I would find another job is for more money. But I'm pretty comfy as it stands.

Also about to move to another state to save and my company is fully behind it and giving me time off and everything. Comfy but I hate a lot of the work. Idk. Covid has made shit really weird but I’m glad I’m making money rn.

Many private nursing homes and care facilities havs awful returns.
Chances are if you run a group home most of the individuals are not paying out of pocket are getting their funds through the government. Meaning your job has to meet state requirements and certain levels of disability to recieve funding.
Lots of money is going to be spent on admin pay, like 30-40%. Than you have to pay the workers themselves, and also use funds for amenities and housing for the residents. (If you ever go into a publicly funded place they are barebone with supplies)
My biggest issue is that your funds are at the wims of the state. Meaning you don't get to set how much someone costs/pays, they do.
Sorry no links, just what ive seen and learned. It can be lucrative and i don't know the full cost/profit of it. But the work involved/regulations with stuff in healthcare makes it risky imo.
What I've seen some people do is they offer their support privatly, meaning instead of a company being paid than giving you a cut, you get the full pay. Only downside is all the paperwork is your job.

Had a dude who got triggered when told no, new staff member did not know this and was promptly beaten.

Usually its 2 during the day, but the other coworker can be pretty useless and just stands there screaming and panicing. Lots of staff never use their non-crisis intervention training.
Im lucky ive only needed to use it once when a girl decided to throw chairs at us and tried to attack another resident.
>alarms to pull
We work in group homes, literally just houses in suburbs. Some of them about 20 min away from nearest assist. Our only assist sometimes is 911. We have no alarms like that(or at least where i have worked).

ha i did that for a while but my experience was way worse, only good part was i could set the machine to run a 6 hour job and literally just exist for that time, fucking hated it after a while though but i kept busy by making satire pages on facebook. wish i knew how much money i could have been making back then by checking out crypto.

Sounds like a shitty environment. By "alarm" I mean buttons around the hospital we can press to alert staff to assist if anyone gets violent.
>girl decided to throw chairs
The fact that the chairs aren't weighted down tells me all I need to know, that wherever you work isn't suitable for psych patients.

Thanks anon, awesome post, sounds like a comfy job. Very few jobs out there where you actually do good for someone. The disadvantage is I suppose lower ceiling for pay. (This is probably where /biz/ comes into it kek, investing in shitcoins that could go 20-100x)
For the private workers / private care - do the clients still live in a government home or do they have to find their own home? I mean it's hard enough as is to buy a home, yet alone for someone who isn't competitive in the job market . And is private work something you want to do later down the track? I'm now wondering about the logistics of it - what would happen e.g. if the worker is sick or can't provide care on the day etc

>> No.29961309

No unfortunately nothing like that. In ontario we are trying to look as uninstitutionalized as possible. Even to the residents own detriment.

For example we had a dude last week who jumped over the counter to the kitchen, ate a block of cheese in 15 sec and put his whole hand in a pie fresh from the over and decided to eat it as is. All while the staff at the time was in bathroom.

We have requested multiple times for a proper door and a barrier for the kitchen. Each time denied as it would make us look "institutionized". I get the sentiment as we had pretty atrocious conditions 30 odd years ago, but now it is basicly letting these guys harm themself/ workers without any restraint. We also can't call them clients or person with disability, its very politically correct.

We had one worker fired for locking a girl out of the house in the summer when she was having violent behaviour and was threatening to hurt staff and other residents.

>>29961309
Wow, that shit's sad. I know Canada is fucked with political correctness but screwing over worker/patient safety for the sake of looking "uninstitutionalized" is sad. You would think workers would refuse to work under those conditions and they would be forced to change due to the lack of staff. When you say "resident" it sounds more like long-term care, where I work it's 3-5 days of acute care. We also don't go more than 2 days without an alarm going off and getting into a hold usually.

>For the private workers / private care - do the clients still live in a government home or do they have to find their own home?
Wish i could answer that better, but usually what happens is a private company purchases homes cheap and uses them as care homes. They recieve government funding from the state to run these places. A governemnt run place does not have the same leeway when it comes to choosing who gets to stay where. You could have 2 people who set each other off in the same home and you would have to just deal, as there is no other option for them.
>something i want to do down the track? I'm now wondering about the logistics of it - what would happen e.g. if the worker is sick or can't provide care on the day etc
No not really, i like how cozy my job is atm and paperwork is not something im great at or interested in.
Usually we have releif staff, someone legally has to always be here in some cases. So if no one can come in the worker who is there needs to stay, but ets overtime.

I prefer client when i refer to the people i work with. To me it feels more respectful, and is he truth. They are paying us to take care of them.

Lmao it's funny we are so politically correct, especially when you can sometimes hear clients scream vulgar shit.
Honestly those highstress moments are really rare, thats why most staff are not prepared for when it does happen. Usually the days are pretty chill

Worst thing that ever happened due to pc happened a couple ears ago.
Company had a program that paid clients something like 25c an hour to cut wires, another private conpany was paying for it. They did not need these clients to do it but it supported the clients independance and gave them extra cash for snacks and shit.
Got canceled due to some cunt mom demanding min wage for her son( unfortunatly none of these guys are worth min wage) so now instead of this program they have nothing. They used to just go and hang out with their freinds, use the money to go to the movies, buy stacks, games. And some of them did not even realize they were beig paid, it was just something for them to do.
Many of them needed supervision and there was no way for them to get an actual job.

Based. I used to do similar work, it started out mostly as a last resort, but I wound up really enjoying it, atleast to some extent. It really is a wonderful feeling to feel that your work actually matters, that you're not just doing busy work and that you're making someone else's life just a tiny bit better. I know all too well about the middle aged+ women with shitty attitudes though, they really ruin it for everyone.

I'm kind of like a surveyor/inspector of utility poles. No coworkers, pay is alright, get a company car, gas is paid for, get to listen to podcasts and audiobooks while I head from pole to pole. Basically choose my own hours too, very good exercise because I'm walking constantly. Had a desk job before this and started developing lower back pain, since taking this job it all went away.
