I just wanted some general advice on how to start out with Alt coins, and I never ever get an answer. The only time I ever have had an answer is someone telling me to buy LINK or LTC, but not why.
I want to learn about Crypto and make my own choices, but I don't even know where to begin.
I just. Want. To turn my 1k investment money into 10k by the end of 2022.
I can't even get started because I can't interpret what makes an altcoin attractive.
I want DOT, KSM or MEME but I never know when to buy these coins.

"dyor" isn't a meme. 99% of these coins are fucking scams that just track the movement of bitcoin. so when you ask for advice, you will get, at best, delusional bagholders shilling you their shitcoin du jour in a vain attempt to pump the price so they can sell to other idiots like you.

go on coingecko and just start reading the info on a bunch of alt coins. if any of them sound good then keep researching those and see if any are actually being used/ making partnerships/ being implemented by companies or governments, etc. then decide for yourself which ones you are willing to bet on.

DirectionsInstructions Checklist
Step 1
Put the chicken, carrots, celery and onion in a large soup pot and cover with cold water. Heat and simmer, uncovered, until the chicken meat falls off of the bones (skim off foam every so often).

Step 2
Take everything out of the pot. Strain the broth. Pick the meat off of the bones and chop the carrots, celery and onion. Season the broth with salt, pepper and chicken bouillon to taste, if desired. Return the chicken, carrots, celery and onion to the pot, stir together, and serve.

I just lurked. Nobody ever told me "do this" or "do that" other than shillers trying to sell their bags. Lurk and read when you see good links or info posted. Download telegram and lurk there. You literally never have to ask anyone anything, it is all there, constantly being discussed in a giant revolving door of noobs and bagholders

This is what I'm saying. I don't like someone just saying "buy link" or "buy LTC" because I'm not learning anything from that. I want to know what resources good traders use. Good youtube videos, websites for graphs and stuff, just so I can do my own research. I know nobody here really knows what's going on.
My problem isn't that I want a pnd shitcoin named for me, I want to know how to research this shit and not get shilled to.

Its never really a good time to buy anon, face it. Just ape in half your stack and reserve the other half for a dip. If the dip looks like it aint coming, go all in and start saving fiat for the next big dip. Rinse and repeat, and don't panic sell for a loss and you will make it eventually

You need to hang out for a while. I spent years telling everyone crypto was a scam, and I got good at picking apart projects while doing it. Now crypto is 20% of my total networth.
Part of me wishes I just retard bought into whatever people were excited about in years past, but I wouldn't have learned anything that way and I'd buy into stupid shit like rubic nowadays.

This has generally been my method of investing in BTC. I don't even care what the price is on the day, I just put a portion of my monthly wages into it. It's very steady. I also have a bit of ETH but I'm a bit more careful with that, as it has been a little more volatile lately.
>>29928492
Cheers anon. I must add that I lost 3.5 BTC back in 2010, lol. I knew it was not a meme but I didn't think it would reach $50k, ever. Shame I lost my wallet password.

there are many strategies you could write a book about it, there is no one size fits all investing strategy. Everyone who knows a thing or two has put work in everyday to figure things out. Do you understand what a blockchain is? Do you understand supply/demand? Do you know how to calculate marketcap based on token supply and price? Do you know what is swing trading/day trading/hedge trading? Do you have the guts to hodl? Do you know what DCA means? Do you know the origins of bitcoin and why it is important? Do you know what sound money means? Do you have an understanding of the history of money in general? Do you know what a smart contract can do? Do you understand to potential of smart contract systems removing middle men and why that gives a network value? Do you know what mining is and how it works? Do you know what staking really is? All of these things you can google

Buy some Avax right now, look at the chart for the past month. We're in a dip in entire market. Might dip a little more, but now is great time to buy alts etc. I would say put 25% of your 1k into Avax. You won't regret it when it goes past previous ATH

>> No.29928987

>>29928728
You have addressed my points without realizing it. Sometimes the problem isn't not googling something, it's not knowing that you should Google something. For your questions I mostly understand all these terms except for DCA, so I guess that's something to google.

One tip, not an individual coin recommendation though.
We're late in the season here. There may be some more upside; there may even be a lot more upside this run, but one thing is for sure: you will never make gains mid or late bull run like you will buying a week or two after this place is a solid catalog of pink wojacks.

Well in your op you said "I can't interpret what makes an altcoin attractive" If this is what you want to be able to do, you have to have a very broad understanding in general, and that understanding you should always be growing. What makes a coin attractive? For some it's innovation that could disrupt industries, for others it's a nice logo, what will it be for you? If you already know what i've spoken about, then trust yourself.

Hi frand - you can get started risk free with Coinbase, they're giving away $31(USD) of free crypto. From there, you can hold, go all in on an alt coin, or play it "safe" (for crypto) and buy BTC or ETH when it dips. Hope this helps.

If you really want to learn, read the white papers of each coin you're interested in and try to figure if it's going to be a valuable asset in a crypto economy. I'm in GRT because I see an actual use case for it and it's already being adopted by big players in crypto, which makes me believe that people that know more about what's going on than I do are also hype about it. Ultimately this is gambling, and sometimes you're just gonna get fucked, but you can reduce the chance of that by picking coins with some tact. Best of luck OP.

Only advice as a lurker I have is that you will get into your first few alts, that will be scams, and eventually you'll get curious on how some of this stuff works and your mind will filter the majority of shitcoins out.

Get familiar with a basic trading platform. Coinbase, binance, kraken, something like that.
Pick a portfolio tracker you like if you need one, like blockfolio, or cointracking.
Learn a wallet or two, Exodus, MetaMask, something like that.
Then learn basic market fundamentals and charting. Tradingview is common.
Learn how to set stop losses on your account.

Then watch charts and buy when you think it's hit a stable low and will go up. There are no guarantees of course, but over time and with analysis you can increase your chances.

You can try https://go.coin-metro.com/tram
Put in money and experience traders trade for you.
If you first buy for example BTC or ETH, you get the rising value of said asset and the tram manager ups that by a 2-8% a month.
