You should really never go long on a leveraged etf. Selling covered calls isn't the same thing as going long in the traditional sense. If you expect a short term upswing in an etf the leveraged etf will net a higher upswing in the short term. Covered call sales can benefit from the increased implied volatility that the leverage creates.

At that point you're playing Russian roulette. It could be suicide or you could become rich practically overnight...
SOXL is definitely a riskier play than simply holding SOX but given the low interest rates, the high demand for semis, and the fat premiums on calls, buying SOXL after the split on Monday and writing calls until the end of the year is far from the stupidest play I've seen shilled here... I personally own $100,000 worth of shares. Time will tell if this gambit pays off, but I know people who do this for a living and they think it's a reasonable move, if ballsy...

Sorry I wrote that ambiguously. I meant writing monthly calls for the rest of the year. I'm going to re-evaluate my strategy if it looks like the FED is raising interest rates or the SOXL clearly enters a downchannel. Then I might just hold SOX instead until the market turns bullish. I just meant that it's a good play in the foreseeable future, insofar as we can guess what the future will be like...

you dont roll when you write. say you sell a call with strike $10 and expiration 2/1/2021 on 1/1/2021 when the price of the stock is only $7. Say the price of the stock on 2/1/2021 is now $10. Rolling is the transaction by which you simultaneously buy to close your 2/1/2021 $10 call for a loss, while selling to open ANOTHER call. This time say for 3/1/2021 and strike of $12. Often times, you can do this transaction such that the new sale of the call outweighs the loss of buying to close the first ITM call. You would do this if you expect the stock to not reach $12 by 3/1/2021. Or, if you think the stock will dump before then and allow you to buy the call back and then sell another covered call on the next pump
I really need to emphasize how much i suggest looking this up on a youtube tutorial. Seeing is understanding for a lot of this stuff

Can't drive past the places we used to go to

Sidewalks we crossed
I still hear your voice in the traffic, we're laughing
Over all the noise
God, I'm so blue, know we're through
But I still fuckin' love you, babe (ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh)
I know we weren't perfect but I've never felt this way for no one
And I just can't imagine how you could be so okay, now that I'm gone

i guess my point is that valuations are relative to the time and culture of the market.
this time and culture in the market allows for astronomical valuations off even small fundamentals, or even no fundamentals.
so when i see a company not just with small fundamentals, but BIG fundamentals (actual performance), that hasn't gone through the modern metamorphosis as to its valuation skyrocketing on speculation, i get interested.
it's just a matter of time til INTC is caught in the memewave and goes from 246B to 600B

Consumer sentiment is against them, enterprise and cloud providers are still fucking pissed at them for Spectre and associated bullshit and are replacing Xeon racks with Epyc. Meanwhile they're being dumped by Apple, never got any kind of presence in mobile, still can't get 10nm out the fucking door, and they managed to hire Keller and then flushed him down the toilet because they're just that fucking incompetent. Intel fucking sucks.

Imo this a very dangerous mistake in your thinking that will end up costing you a lot of money. Valuation is in the end always tied to fundamentals, and when it isn't those are outliers that will be corrected sooner or later.

their numbers say otherwise
their 100B in equity and 20B in revenue says otherwise.
that's what i'm saying.
literally the only thing their missing is meme energy.
AMD and NVDA's "performance" financially is completely eclipsed by INTC. this amazing "performance" of AMD/NVDA people talk about is a complete illusion. they're profitable, sure, but again they're five times LESS profitable than INTC despite having a 50% higher market cap in the instance of NVDA.
literally the only thing INTC is missing is meme magic and that's just a matter of time and shilling.
their potential may be up for debate in the industry, but what is NOT up for debate is their ACTUAL performance.
doesn't matter if everyone and their dog just LOOOOOOVES NVDA. INTC makes 20B in revenue, NVDA makes 4.5B in revenue. NVDA markcap is 338B, INTC markcap is just 246B.

You can say the same thing about IBM, which is damn near a clone of Intel wrt revenue and market cap, and IBM stock has been bleeding for almost the last 10 years. Now, IBM is pulling a HP and splitting into two companies to desperately try and reinvent itself as a competitor to Alphabet. Maybe it'll work for them, but probably not. But with how Intel fucked the Keller thing up, it's clear that they don't have the ability to reinvent themselves, and that they're just going to slowly take on water and sink. The only thing that's even keeping them afloat now is that TSMC doesn't have the capacity to replace them.
