Smart contracts are easy to implement but very hard to get the minutia right, and the minutia ends up making all the difference. Anyone can release a blockchain with smart contracts, we've seen many already, but everyone is hoping Cardano's is somehow insanely better. Well, it probably isn't. Still doesn't mean it won't be successful though. I think technically Polkadot is amazing and it's actually up right now, but in reality who cares?
Linux was always a better OS but most people use Windows. Internet Explorer was always the worst browser yet had more than 90% of market share at some point because Microsoft forced every retard to use it.
Maybe Elon Musk will make a brainfart tweet about Cardano tomorrow and that'll kick everything in motion for Cardano dominance. Maybe the launch is botched and it goes down to the crypto graveyard forever.
Why did Bitcoin become what it is today anyway? Due to constant shilling, first from libertarians, then crazy rich fuckers like McAffe, now companies looking to swindle shareholders like Microstrategy and Tesla. If the technology mattered Bitcoin would be dead already. 7 transactions per second, high fees, what a joke.

I think you bring up a good point that's not easy to acknowledge. It's not all about fundamentals: the market is (to an extent) at the whim of greater social events, and a lot of retarded people who don't know anything about crypto.

Flare is going to revolutionize the entire digital economy. Vitalik stole the idea for ETH from his time as an intern at Ripple anyway, he was working on the Codius smart contract platform and then somehow came up with the ETH virtual machine less than 6 months after he was sent back to Canada. Codius became Flare. look it up.

bitcoin is the oldest, has the longest (and most stable) history, every time you introduce extra features, you introduce extra risk, which is why ETH had to rewrite part of its blockchain just to fix the DAO mess
not sure why so many people rag on bitcoin, it's not like without bitcoin suddenly your chosen shitcoin would increase in value, just buy bitcoin, so many whiners on this board
