His art is good. I can never remember the name of my favorite artist though.

Art thread?
Pic related is the most spectacular painting I've ever seen in the flesh. The way that Renoir could capture how light on a sunny day comes down through foliage, to give those dappled spots of warmth, is fucking mesmerising. No picture can do it justice.
I used to sneer at art growing up because I didn't get it, but it is honestly magical. Completely transporting.

A famous painting would be more of a fuck you than owning a Lambo.

Hey OP, I'm gonna sell you that painting for 10 million.
Later, one of my curators will evaluate the painting in 40 million. Afterwards, donate it to one of those dumbfuck museums in Germany, they dig that shit. Since it's a donation, you'll get 30million tax cut for free.

Done.

Art is unironically the most based asset you can have anon. That painting is completely unique, the artist is well recognized plus hes dead so there will never be more art works from him to dilute the value.

Furthermore, you can move paintings with you to offshore jurisdictions were they will never be taxed, so you just add value non stop. you can literally carry around hundreds of millions of dollars under your arm.

Art auctioning is the biggest money laundering operation in the world and no one gives a damn. youd be a fool not to buy that painting anon.

>> No.29694631

Why should I? This is really REALLY bad art. However if you recorded yourself pouring gasoline over it and lighting it on fire I would maybe give you a like on Twitter but only if it was the original that you burned.

I know that feel. I saw a really great impressionist painting at a museum in DC and just sat and absorbed it for a good 20 minutes. Art is great. If I ever get stupid rich I'll definitely become an art collector (or better yet just buy myself a seat on the board of the Metropolitan Museum of Art).

Colorful and theatrical, Toulouse-Lautrec's work is more complicated than you think and you only see a tenth of what is true. A memory, a feeling of a time past. You are only here for a fraction of a fraction of a second and here is something to make you feel connected, something to cherish, something to make you feel loved. Maybe you won’t know the true value for twenty years. You may never ever trace it to its source. And you only get one chance to decide with a million little strings attached
